Did he jump over thousands of feet of empty air? No. But did he jump over a gap that, had he fallen, could have hurt him and his camera? Not to mention that if he'd landed wrong, he could've pitched over a much more serious drop? You betcha.

Conclusion: idiot.

Oh. Okay then.

I was dissapointed to read this was a fake, but I'm not so sure - the fifth photo in the Guardian makes it pretty clear where he jumped from and to, and i still thought it was pretty silly - so I don't feel conned because it still seems pretty dumb and I never thought he was actually jumping the whole canyon

There is a moderately intersting photoshop challenge on the guardian page linked by trumpeteer

That sounds like a direct challenge to Art! (and his ilk)

And I don't think it's a fake per se, just more like misleading through good cropping.
