Has anyone had any dealings with this company before? I had the guy who set it up asking if he could put one of my shots on the front page.

Any thoughts? I've signed up and submitted the shot but I'm not sure how lucrative this'll actually be. Anyone sold any stock on this site before?

Ive never heard of them, looks like he has a long row to hoe as far as traffic is concerned. dpchallenge has an alexa rank of 25349 and cutcaster is over 300,000 so as of now it doesnt look like the site gets a lot of traffic.

hahahah You are right Kaveran. We are over 300k because we are just getting started and we are beginning our first marketing push this Monday. Jimi's photo will be seen by a lot more people after this week I bet. I reached out to Jimi bc I thought he had some amazing photos and put one of them on the homepage which you can see at www.cutcaster.com. But you are right about DPC having more traffic.... for now ;-)

If you have any thoughts or suggestions for us at Cutcaster I would love to hear them and would love it if you signed up so you can tinker around when you are logged in.

Nice work Jimi. I love the photo. Let me know what you think.

Yeah if anyone else has a shot that they like I'd love to feature it on the homepage. Jimi's looks great. Nice work. Let me know if you have any questions. My email is john AT cutcaster.com.

When browsing some of the images seem over sharpened. Also, the third one (Santiago fire) is really pixelated.

Some look really good though so don't know what's going on with a few of them.

(You probably didn't want a critique but it may be something to check before you get a whole lot of traffic)

no thank you. im going to take a look at the ones you are talking about. it looks like we created two thumbnails (100x66) instead of a larger preview (620 x427). thanks for the heads up. that is fixed now ;-)

let me know if you see anything else.

Jimi's is still looking way over sharpened. Compare it to the one Jimi posted at the beginning of this thread. The Santiago fire image is fixed though.

i think it looks a lot better now and think part of the reason is we are changing our preview page to look like this.

//design.pwsdev.com/cutcaster/view-media-details-video-preview/

let me know if you have any suggestions for making it better ;-)

thanks

I am happy to report we are up to 169k and counting. So we have moved up 150k spots in a month and a half and I am working my butt off to get us higher and improve our search rankings. Thanks for all your help and visiting the site.

Cutcaster upgraded their upload system just recently. If you have your IPTC data like title, description, and keywords completed in the file, then it is very easy and fast to submit you images to Cutcaster.

07/25/2008 10:31:56 AM · #22
Thanks oboy for the update. We are still improving it all the time and making it as fast as we can. Our goal is to have one of the simplest and fastest uploader in the industry. If you have any other feedback on how we can make it better please just email me.

I noticed that Jimi's link isn't working above so here is a link to his image.

I thought it was really cool.
