Seems like this would have been brought up before but I would like to see the voting distribution graph for an entire challenge updated much the same way I can look at my own score as it bobs up (hopefully) and down (more likely) during the challenge. That way I would know how I stand in relation to the votes others are receiving. Does no good to get a 6 if the average vote in the challenge is a 7 for instance. I might feel good about the 6 until voting ends and I find out I finished in the bottom third of all entries. If not the entire graph then at least the average of all votes. Anybody else like this idea?

Sound interesting. Some could probably interpret this as a potential for bad guys to cheat, adjusting their votes on others' entries for example when they see where they are placed.

If you are talking about in "real-time" with the update button, I think this would cause some severe delays.
You would be doing the "calculate votes" function that they do at roll-over every time someone casts a new vote. And sometimes that calculate votes script at roll-over take a few minutes.

I don't know about the technical aspects of doing it but if it does pose a problem then couldn't they do it at least once a day at make it part of the daily maintenance thing they do at 4am-4:15am?

I see what you are saying but I don't think most would engage in this type of activity and one persons vote on a particular image isn't going to skew the scores dramatically anyway. If you did try to do this it wouldn't work very well I don't think. I am relatively ignorant of the ways they try to find voter fraud but wouldn't these ferret out the individuals who would be doing this?

Well I guess nobody likes the idea or even cares to discuss it further. I thought it was a pretty good idea.

Why don't you start a ticket with the SC and suggest it to the administrators. Then they could think about it and decide if they like the idea. If they do, a poll could be started to see if the majority of the membership would want that. I know that some of the "stat" heads in here would love to have that. Wouldn't matter to me as I don't even use the update button anymore. The "roll-over" troll cured me from that, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank that person, or persons.

Edit: Just a thought... they could make this available only if you voted for all entries in a challenge. That way there is absolutely no way to use the info to influence voting. And...... it might motivate a few more people to vote on all the entries in a challenge. See! You had a good idea!

... and by viewing this info, you lock your votes so you can't go back and change them.

Wow! Those are some great ideas. Thanks. I'm not sure how to do what you are saying but I think I'm going to find out.

I don't care for this idea for a simple reason: I think half the fun of "watching your score" is actually NOT knowing how it stacks up, hoping against hope, chewing your nails, and so forth. But IF it were implemented, I'm with cpanioti: vote 'em all and you can peek, but it locks your scores in at that point.

I agree with Robert on this.

I never thought of it that way. I guess that's sorta true when I think about it. I still wonder what others think. Anybody else have an opinion on this?
