Babies and kittens.

And let us not forget totally unrelated landscapes.

ohnoes! I thought it would be doves but now that you mention it, it can probably be interpreted as anything :(

Yes, please help identify the cliches now. Sleeping children, gravestones...

...churches...park benches...anti-war protests...

No doubt someone will pull out an old, tarnished 60's peace symbol necklace from their jewelry box...

Although being a portrait man such as yourself ... clearly landscapes should all be banned ;-)

Ah, c'mon Leroy! For a lot of us, a really serene landscape is the epitome of "peace", and it's an absolutely valid take on the topic...

How about a guy w/ long hair, a leather headband, and a beard; wearing love beads and a tie-dyed t-shirt. Of course he must be giving Winston Churchill's (and Nixon's) V for Victory, lol.

Also -

Street sign at corner of Haight and Ashbury? (Or is that realy "Love" not Peace?)
Flower in the barrel of a gun/rifle?
A buried (or half buried) hatchet?

Personally, I think a landscape is less hackneyed than any of these. (Plus if you shoot a landscape, you can enter it in the other challenge instead at the last minute, lol)

I'm going to have my Yoda and Darth Vader action figures hug. (yes, ACTION FIGURES, not dolls....)

you know, it does say:

Take an image that conveys harmonious relations,

reconciliation,

inner contentment,

serenity,

balance... You get the idea.

UGH to the gravestones and peace signs

Is it just me, or is the voting quite low so far? I have been able to roughly guage my score throughout the challenges, and I generally have an OK idea of what I would get. Obviously give or take a few points. But I really don't think my entry is that bad... And should you think it deserves a score lower than 4, please at least tell me why so that I can improve. Does anyone agree? Otherwise, what is the point of this site if everyone just gives comments on the really good pics. This is a place where we are meant to be able to improve our photography, and how can we do so if we just get low scores, and no tips or clues as to why. Any thoughts?

See here. Peace seems to be scoring very badly indeed. I'm currently on my worst score ever, and about 1.5 below where I expected to be by the end of the week.
02/20/2008 05:25:08 AM · #20
I really don't mind if people don't like my shot, but please, if you're going to give me a low score, tell me why so that I can improve. I'm not here to stay at the same mediocre level I've always been, I want to improve my photographic ability, and low votes without comments don't help.

Please, just have the courtesy to comment if you're going to vote below 4.

I'm a shoe-in for the brown this round. I'm sitting at a whopping 2.3529 !
02/20/2008 08:38:26 AM · #22
Wow, and I thought I was coming in at an all time low with a 3.86 at the moment. So much for my hopes of the coveted brown out of this one. Got one useful comment so far.

There were a couple of trolls out early, so the scores are currently skewed toward the low end with the low number of total votes.
