So I got the March issue of Shutterbug in the mail today, was just paging through it now, and who do I run into on page 10? Our very own grigrigirl!

She is featured in the creativity section in the community web profiles.

Here's a little something they said about Julia and her work:

" It would be easy to claim that Julia Bailey is one of the best female wedding photographers in the country, but it would be far more accurate to say she is the leading wedding photojournalist in the U.S.A., period!"

It's so nice to see someone many of us have followed finally make it out there in a very vast and competitive field.

So kudos and a huge round of applause to you Julia...you are an inspiration.

Go DPL Teammate!

So now add another $1K to your price list - jk.
Besides loving what you do for your clients, what you do for your community deserves a big hug:

"I have recently agreed to be the Louisiana state representative for the NAOCP. Louisiana programs are currently not set up for such charitable acts of photography. So, this is my call to all local photographers who would like to be on the list of people willing to offer their time and talent to families in need. If you have a favorite cause, go for it. We can help out the state foster system, cancer patients, animal shelters etc."

THAT is what making a mark in life is all about!

Her work is crazy... I just wonder if I try to do something similar, would bride and groom agree with it? I think it depends who are your clients and second how good of a salesman you are.

Her website (and other's websites in DPC, such as Leroy's) will be my inspiration before I go to any shooting... especially weddings :)

Hey...thank you to everyone for the lovely kudo's. The article came as a complete surprise to me. It was awesome to read those words, but at the same time, It feels a bit weird. I'm kind of embarrassed actually, because I dont really even like my own work!

Really, I should thank DPC. This site has been my place for learning, rebellions, inspirations etc. You have also given me a place to run and play and hide when Im disgusted with the wedding industry! So...thank you. :)

I just got my issue today -- congrats, Julia!

Wow, that's awesome! You were the first photographers on DPC who I tagged as a favorite, and it's great to see you get the recognition you deserve. Just imagine how good your work would be if you switched to Canon! (Ducks and runs for cover as Nikon shooters throw rotten produce at my head) :)
