When someone starts a message with "Your a moron", is there ever enough time to stop laughing?
02/19/2004 07:28:32 PM · #2
Only enough time to type "Thanx" L()L

a lot of people have trouble distinguishing between your and you're..also to and too..if you go a day without seeing one of these it's amazing.

This is my favorite forum thread so far! Also, when people do not use the correct form of "it's" or when they put 's on the end of everything. The other day I saw a sign which read "please put the chair's on the table's".
And no, Gary there isn't enough time to stop laughing. But that't the beauty of it: laughter keeps you young and healthy. Why stop?

oops... I was trying to type "that's". :)

I think if your trying to comment a lot - errors like that can be made. I for one hate my keys and seem to put a ; where a ' should go.

And sometimes I can;t be bothered to fix it ;)

i got into an argument with some kid while playing online poker.. he tore into me with a string of insults.. which included calling me an "outkast from society".. as i was typing back: "don't learn to spell from rap artists" he says: "what? assumptions to big a word for ya?" i nearly wet myself..
02/20/2004 07:50:37 AM · #8

They say that the new language of txt (yes, I know I left the 'e' out) will be with us very soon as a written language. It is bad enough I have try to understand it on the phone. Heaven help us!!!!!!!

And yet, to get a message to someone or visit an internet site, you must type the address EXAcTlY as originally written or it won't work.

i have a buddy who is a college professor- she says it's un-stinkin' believable what's happening to grammar and spelling because of the internet. or maybe we could blame prince? personally, i believe technology is just making us all lazy. i don't even use caps anymore unless it's a business letter or something. i blame e.e. cummings for that though.

what really cracked me up is at work the other day, one of the young girls actually said "LOL" instead of laughing.

I think its to bad that there spelling and grammar is on the decline.

Sign seen outside my local Jr. High School: "Welcome Grandparent's to are breakfast!"

(I should edit to say that this sign was corrected rather quickly. I think having a school levy on the upcoming ballot might have something to do with that!)

One of the problems of bringing back Hebrew as a living language is that it is written without vowels.

Funny you should say that. He actually was here to sign the so called "No Child Left Behind" education bill in January of 2002. Talk about a huge deal for our fairly small city. We live less than a mile from the school where he arrived and it sounded like an invasion with all the choppers flying over our house.

When I was in high school, our senior t-shirts, which were put out by the senior class government and approved by faculty members, said "Ha ha, I'm a senior and your not." Boy, did I ever want to wear that one.

Little did you realize you were about to be cast out of the regimented safety and security of high school into the chaos of the real world ....
