Paramount Theatre Public Tours
Responding to ever-increasing requests from area residents and visitors, each first Saturday of every month, the Seattle Theatre Group will offer free tours of the historic Paramount Theatre.

Ooooohhhhhh, I love that idea!!! Let's do it! Only 90 minutes anyway, so there will be plenty of time for other stuff, too.
Great idea. Should we warn them to expect a whole bunch of us?

Aw, dang. I'm gonna be out there the weekend of Dec. 14-15.

Maybe I can meet some of you then, anyway?

That's 6 weeks after our GTG - I'm sure some of us will be ready for more by then. My clan is boring, I can never get them out of the house, so chances are good that I'd welcome a shooting buddy.

Perhaps together we can drag Ken out from behind his couch (maybe take his woody hostage? LOL LOL LOL).

Yes to both days, but I am unsure if we are thinking "downtown area" both days. I am working on putting together a "loose" itinerary and see how it is accepted by the masses. That is where I am having difficulties somewhat as much depends on the weather, at least that is my feeling on this. So I am trying to come up with a rain plan as well...any suggest as to what you would like to do or go would be welcomed...

Your favorite beverage at the after shoot ho down is on me, thanks for putting his together.

I'm up for anything, but I think it would be cool if day 2 was more of a nature shoot? I wish I could offer a suggestion but I don't know enough about the area yet.

O.K., here are my thoughts on what could be planned for the Seattle GTG. Mind you, not everyone will probably be happy nor will it be to everyone liking. But if we lived in a sunnier climate or if it were a different time of year, I would suggest some drivable places in the Mountains that I know that would probably rock everyone’s world. However, neither are the cases this “go” around so we have to make do with whatever Mother Nature throws our way in order to have a really good memorable time….

It would probably be in our best interest to meet somewhere indoor, just in case. So, with that said it is best we meet at the Seattle Center House. It is indoor, has tables and lots of places to sit, as well as food, and it would give us time to get to know one another and wait for all those who are coming. (Thanks 21_F.gif Beetle for the tip!!) She also suggested that we get some name tags. Pretty good idea, as I am not very good with names either. I will pick those up and bring those as well.

I thought meeting at 8:00 am, as that would give us plenty of time to mingle and allow others to arrive.

On Saturday it was suggested that we do the Paramount Theatre Tour. This would actually be a really good idea either rain or shine as it is free, it begins relatively early in the day (10 am), it only lasts 90 minutes, and is easy to get to from West Lake Center via the Monorail. Thanks for the idea 21.gif Dr.Confuser!!!

After that, I suppose the city is ours to choose where and what we want to do. We can break up, stay together, whatever we choose I would imagine. I know it is probably something everyone else has done and it is nothing new but why not head down towards Pike Place Market? We could mess around down there, take in the sights and smells, maybe get some lunch, take the hill climb down to the Waterfront and hit the Aquarium. What does everyone think? We could then meet up again

Anyway, at 8:00 on Saturday night, 21.gif Art Roflmao(Ken) has a friend that is playing up at Duke’s Chowder House in Green Lake. I was planning on attending that and I am quite sure everyone else would be welcome as well.

As for Sunday, maybe once we meet on Saturday we could put our collective heads together and decide what, where, when, and if we want to meet. We would have a much better lay of the land as well as a much better idea as to what the weather has in store for us. Thoughts?

Here is a list I compiled of things that we can do and whether they are a rain or shine event (or both). Let me know what you think and please feel free to add, subtract or multiply. I really appreciate all the input to this point for everyone

Yea, I was thinking the same but also thought we could get a better idea of the weather during Saturday, as well as where we wanted to hang out on Sunday.

Much appriciated for the favorite beverage sir!! I am a Mack and Jack fan!!!

Michael - don't forget the new sculpture park. I have been down for that a yet but it sounds like it could be of interest.

Right now I'm on for Sat but may not make Sat night as it looks like I have another engagement. Everything is still up in the air.

Sounds like a plan JB. Is it the "Olympic Sculpture Park"? I pulled it up online and it looks really interesting. I will add it to the agenda...

Thanks!!

The forecast for the weekend is supposed to be dry/cloudy/sunny patches and a bit on the cool side in the 50s so it may all work out.

Then again, often the weather can change quickly. :-)

(It is this coming weekend, the get together?)

UPDATE: Sorry, just read back, I have the wrong weekend, pity!

I have always thought that the weather peeps up here would be better off just to forecast 50% chance of rain. At least they wouldn't get beat up all the time when they forecast sun or dry weather...heehee

The agenda looks good as laid out. I'm easy though. I ordered up a batch of TODAY'S WEATHER for that weekend. Soon we'll learn the extent of my influence. :)

I'm a new member at DPC and I'm in the Seattle area. I'd like to join you folks if possible for the GTG. I'm having some difficulty figuring out what the final plans are from reading the thread.

Can someone please reply w/ the final plans?

Thanks,
Vijay

Hi Vijay,

First off, welcome to DPC!!!

Secondly, we are meeting November 3rd and 4th. On November 3rd, we are meeting at the Seattle Center House at 08:00 am. From there I believe we are going to go tour the Paramount Theater...after that, I think it is entirely up to the group and or the weather as to what we will do.

If you need more information, you can email me at mwwesterbeck@yahoo.com or PM me if you like. Glad to have you join us!!

Michael

Looks good Michael. Lot's of options after the Paramount so people can choose up groups and split up. A better plan than all trying to stick together for the day.

We should remember to figure out a meeting place for early evening to compare notes we all disperse for the day as I'm not sure all will be able to make the later evening function.

Thanks for taking on the organizing.

Hi all,

We are getting down to the wire. Is anyone as jazzed as I am for this GTG? I did goof up a touch, but even if it doesn't work out, this is still going to be a blast. I spaced out making reservation for Saturday night at Dukes and they are all booked up now. No problem really and I still may be able to go. If anyone has room at their table...or I can scratch at the window looking pathetic. Maybe then they would let me in...heehee

Anyway, the weather outlook for the weekend is looking fairly favorable. At least is what KOMO and KING are saying, so we shall see. They both say sunbreaks and dry for the most part during the day...again we shall see.
10/29/2007 08:50:01 PM · #125
Yup, I'm excited and so is Ray (the fact that he is flying all the way from Ottawa is probably quite a give-away, eh?)

I doubt I can drag hubby and myself out of bed to be at Seattle Center at 8am, but we'll be there at the theater.

Crossing fingers for the weather......
