I had posted directions earlier in the thread :)

Here's a Google Map of the meeting spot.

Let me know if anyone has concerns about finding this spot. Thanks!

Google directions end in "Left at Shaffer Rd. 1.4 mi.", then what do we look for?
07/12/2007 10:32:38 PM · #103
There's a pull-off area along the side of the road at a trailhead. I believe there's a "Hell's Hollow" sign along the parking area, too.

Thanks, see you all in Hell...s Hollow.
I like Yahoo Maps' close-up aerial/hybrid view maps, they show a lot of detail.

There I had to enter the destination Lat/Long as a decimal. Actually I clicked near the spot and it entered the following coordinates, 40.931331,-80.240108, is that the spot?

I don't know how to convert +40° 55' 51.78", -80° 14' 23.53", to decimal equivalents.

Here is a map:

B-E-E-E-P! The brownies are done! :) I'll look forward to seeing everyone in the morning. Since nobody exactly jumped up and down to offer to bring burgers/buns... I'm off to the store...

Man - I really could go for one of those brownies. Or two. Or three. Or four. or...

AWESOME! I'm psyched for the brownies...I might just have to steal some on the way there out of your back seat! :) My cell phone number is 740-243-1208 if anyone needs to get a hold of me. C-ya tomorrow!

Hey there...I made it home! That was such a great time! Even the climb to Breakneck Falls!

A great time was had by all. It's been said before, but it can't be said enough: If there's a DPC GTG anywhere near you, make every effort to attend, you won't regret it.

Here are some quick shots with minimum editing.

And the final destination - Breakneck Falls:

What a nice day! We had great weather, and the day went off with very few fatalities!

It was very nice to see a great mix of familiar faces from previous GTGs, as well as some new folks.

Many thanks to everyone who endured the trip to Breakneck Falls without actually breaking a neck. Buckeye_Fan gets a special ribbon for making that journey, despite being uncomfortable with the heights involved (and there were plenty of places to feel uncomfortable about that!).

Oh, and I would be remiss if I failed to once again thank Jared for bringing his longtime girlfriend (of 5 days). Not only was she very easy on the eyes, and a good sport about being a model (collectively, I would estimate that we took 1.6 million photos of her today), but she was a super nice person on top of everything else. Hang on to her!

Here's a hastily-edited sampling:

Sure looks like you all had a great time. Envy is definitely defines me at this time. Congratulations all!

Not that this is directly related to the GTG, but here's a funny shot a friend just sent me from the pool party I was racing to get to afterwards. Seems that I'm always the oldest kid in the pool...

After finally deciding to get up today, well I should say Jack (my dog) decided it was time for me to get up, I quickly edited a few photos. It was such wonderful time and I do appreciate everyone putting up with my fear of heights. Thank you Alan for the special ribbon! I don't think I will be scaling a mountain anytime soon but I think I could definitely conquer Breakneck Falls again!!

Well I would first like to thank everyone for coming. It was a blast!

But I'm actually posting right now to tell everyone that I was in the hospital last night for about 3 hours due to food poisoning. I realize it's no one's fault-I'm not blaming anyone. But if you are feeling sick to your stomache, I would definitely get checked out. Thankfully my girlfriend(of a long time 7 days now, lol) was there to take me to the hospital in the ambulance and hasn't left my side since. But like I said, it's no one's fault.

I'm still pretty sick and I have to email some of my teachers to let them know I will need an extension so I can't really post much, but I will keep checking the thread. I hope everyone's feeling alright! Thanks for attending!

oh Jared!! I so feel for you and I certainly hope you start to feel better. Your lovely girlfriend is a keeper if she stayed by your side. Keep us posted!

Sorry to hear that, Jared. Food poisoning? I didn't have any troubles. Anybody else? I had two of the burgers, so if it was them, I'd be in bad shape. The rest was chips and such, so don't know where the food poisoning would have come from.

Holy crap! Sorry to hear, especially since I brought much of the food...! (Let's hope it's not traced to tainted brownies...)

Very sorry and surprised to hear that -- hope you feel better soon!!

I had 2 burgers too - no issues. And lots of Buckeye's brownies (Super big thanks! - we went to see Ratatoullie and Shrek3 at the drive in later that night and they were a big hit with the kids)

Pics from yesterday are at //www.pbase.com/cpphotography/dpcgtg

A couple of my favs
In the 'furnace' I played a bit with my flash. The color one is good too.

One more...

07/15/2007 04:57:46 PM · #125
I'm pretty sure the second burger I had was just undercooked. I'm not blaming anyone though. It hit me pretty quickly so it was most likely just the 1 burger. So if you're not sick by now, you're probably fine. I'll post my photos asap. I didn't have a chance to take as many w/ my 20D this time since I had to shoot 3 different assignments for class, but I'll post what I have.

Thanks to John, I now have a subscription to DPC! :) Thanks John, I really appreciate it!
