Yes.

Because the challenge description states greyscale, and if there is colour, it's not greyscale.

Ok, thanks. The challenge description shall be obeyed.

there are a lot of interesting things you could do that might garner dnmc comments,,, don't let it stop you! (for one thing, it'll make the challenge easier for me to get through)

The camera is a good one, check out DPReview, they have full review of it. The battery is rechargeable, you charge it either with charger that comes with camera or in camera i.e. you connect power supply direct to camera. I would think it would be with a charger tho! Yep, I think levyj413 is sorting it out.

Gets a Highly Recommended (just about) from DPReview, but read their review before deciding.

Done research and I have snet all details to levyj413!

Hey, Deb, look what your camera can do.

My camera is the Panasonic FZ30. It uses that same battery. The battery charge lasts a decent amount of time and it recharges quite rapidly in the charger that came with it.

The Leica lens on my camera is great. It captures wonderful detail, and is very versatile -- from macro through 12x zoom, which covers most of the photography I want to do. The camera responds quickly for a P&S -- almost instant on and wakes up instantly too. The auto-focus is quite rapid, and there is almost no shutter lag. The burst mode is good, and it can shoot in RAW format. I like the controls, and portability.

Those are all the things I like about it. There is one thing I'm not happy with -- the sensor. I had to return the first camera, because there were too many dead pixels. The one I have has one dead pixel (I can live with it), but noise is a problem, and not just in low light.

I don't know about the FZ8S, so I don't know if my experience is relevant to this model. But you can check out these issues in the reviews and forums.

Basically, the way I use my cameras is:
Panasonic FZ30 for action and wildlife shots, where speed and responsiveness is a priority.
Olympus C765UZ for landscapes, portraits, and snapshots. I carry my Olympus in my purse all the time -- just in case.

So......I went to City Island in Harrisburg 'cause it was Armed Forces Day. They had various displays like this one....

Then.....I watched as the choppers took off and the one took a hot lap around the island and "Strafed" the crowd.....

All in all it was pretty cool!

FL commented on the pic of the chopper strafing the crowd.....

He said it looks like a bug.

Here's a shot of it poised to take off with a good view of how it bites!

Woo, I'm in for selective desaturation, and hopefully it'll do better than other recent entries. levyj413's Photoshop lessons were very useful in being selective!

I was rattling around with some friends here at home.....I know that we all from time to time share parts of our lives with each other. This is a local website that got started to celebrate the special beauty and interesting area that is the capitol of Pennsylvania and the photographers who love it. I recently got together with another photog and we did some night shooting right here. It's a terrific motivator to get out and about and just plain fun. Here's a link if you care to view....

Yeah! Hey, that won't fit on my camera :((

I have to pick it up, and it's full manual and won't even allow the exposure meter to work, but I just bought a 500mm ancient lens that works on my D70s. I'm going to be curious to see how it'll affect some of the shots that I've wan=ted to try and it'll be a cheap way for me to decide whether or not I really need a bruiser of a lens like that.

I know that I can't wait for the first clear night with a full moon!

Hope it works out for you! Sounds neat :-)

Hey I'm just wandering in to say hi and grab a sandwich. DPL or whatever the bloody hell it's called is hard work so I'm gonna hide here and watch tv or something for awhile.

Ain’t that the truth, but you know it was a little more incentive to get out and shoot, I took a about 10 mile walk in a local state park yesterday. BTW some complain about how small and lightweight the 400D is but after 10 miles on uneven ground in 90+ temps, I think it’s just right..
Ok off to comment on some pictures..

BWWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAAAA!

SENS ARE GOING TO THE STANLEY CUP!!!!!! WOOOOOOHOOOO!!!

Oh yeah, fixed my submission for desat (after the game, natch) and re-submitted it. DPL still round 5.18. Off to look at more usernames though I may stick with my original idea.

GO SENS GO!!!

Hey all...

Sorry for cross-posting but I know you guys were very supportive of levyj413's MS Walk (thank you for that!), so I thought you might be interested to know about the MS Photo Tournament.

Full details are in this thread, but the short version is that I'm offering a bracketed tournament to raise money for MS. This is not a "teams" thing. Individuals compete against individuals head to head.

If you think you might be interested, check out the thread and go ahead and sign up if you're interested. If you have any questions, please feel free to post in that thread as well.

Thanks!
~Terry

I'm in selective desaturation, not sure what it will do. All I know is I'm proud of myself for the post processing that I learned and I'm happy with it. And in the scheme of things that's all that counts.

I'm in selective desat as well, and I'm pretty happy with it. I had a bunch of good images from the same photo shoot, I was stuck for hours picking the final one... I picked the more unconventional one of the two, we'll see how it goes...
