Details on the Tulip Action - Netherlands

Greetings - I'm off to Amsterdam/Bruges/Luxemburg this Firday. I've read that the 19th (Saturday) is the last day for the tulip auction. I will have a chance to shoot it and wonder if anyone knows anything about it. Questions like: Is it worth it? What is the best way to get to it? Anyone have photos to share?

To be honest I have never heard of this lastday for the tulip auction stuff. Got more details?

In the fields all tulips are gone. Perhaps in the parks and at the Keukenhof there might be some left.

Thanks for replying - in error I combined 2 events. The 19th is the last day for Keukenhof. Since it's the last day it is open and we are arriving that day, I was wondering if it was worth going to see. Second, any tips on Aalsmeer Flower auction (open year round)

Yes, I think the Keukenhof will still be ok. I must say that I have never been there, but from what I heard they keep replacing flowers all the time. I understand that it is now mostly about lillies and less so about tulips. They also have a website with more info: Keukenhof. Check events for the latest news and flowers used.

I have only been to the Aalsmeer Flower auction once with my uncle, who sold bulbs there. But I was very young. The thing I remember most is that a lot of action is at the early hours. Cannot say for sure how it is now as trading has increased. Last time I was there as an adult it was to inspect their roof. :)

thanks for the info, Sander -- I am hoping to get to the auction and Kerkenhof even though tulip season may be just past. I enjoyed looking through your portfolio shots - I'll be shooting some windmills but I'm thinking I won't get a chance to until we arrive in Bruges. I'll post some shots when I return. Theresa
