Is it bad form to post an image you have running in a current challenge on another site where members here may see it?
I made a faux pas with posting my out takes early here so want to watch my p's and q's.

I don't think there is anything official.
Folks do it all the time. I used to post on Photo-Sig and so did many here. |

It's not prohibited so long as you don't then post a link to it here.
Be careful though, some recent DQs were based on people posting their photos on another site ... a week or more before the challenge opened! |

Yeah, don't just be careful not to post it a week before the challenge opens -- You should be careful not to take your shot a week before the challenge opens - that's the real reason for the DQ!

that's cool.. I'm being very careful about avoiding dq's!!! just didn't want to PO anyone by posting an image elsewhere while a challenge is running is all.

Just my personal opinion, but I think the anonymity is important, and a number of us frequent other sites. So I personally have waited until after the challenge. If anything, the real value in posting to another site would be to post before the actual challenge starts, so you could incorporate feedback, not during the voting! I haven't done that either though, since I hope the site stays anonymous, having seen what non-anonymity does to voting on other sites.

I was just thinking about this today. I use deviant art and thought about posting my Water submission there to see what kind of feedback I would get. I decided against it (because my signature on here has a link to my gallery there), and just showed it to some friends that I know don't use this site through a direct link to the picture on my personal webpage.
But I don't really think there is anything wrong with it if you don't try to show it to people here somehow.
