But why?

Also, if it goes upto 720, something which is incredibly likely to happen now, will you only submit shots that are 640 max size?

how do you vote on the few challenges we have that allow 720?

Cos I'm lazy like 90% of the other voters!
No, I will submit to 720.
I tend to lose interest in voting when the 720s are used, I start but then rarely finish

Wow, I like your honesty :-)

cant argue with that answer.. (try as I might)

Langdon is probably too busy tweaking the code for the upcoming DPL season to worry about this issue right now, any more than we have.

BTW: I have a 15" monitor and would just as soon leave things as they are. Yes, I often size my portrait and square images to 600 or 620 pixels tall ...

You have a 15 inch moniter what is that supposed to mean.

If you have a 15 inch CRT then that doesnt make you incapable. If its an LCD then maybe.

You only have to press F11 once...it will stay that way till you press F11 again...even lazy people can do that...cause I am one.

Some people are so lazy they do things the hard way. Kind of like pushing your car when it still starts and runs lol.

If u have to scroll to vote and F11 helps with that. Your actualy saving urself alot of scrolling/wheeling.

The nerve of some people...

Certainly helps support the following point.

The debate about image theft, etc...usually shows up when larger image sizes (i.e. 720x720) gets discussed.

I would like to see DPChallenge implement an automatic watermark overlay on challenge entry photos after the challenge has finished voting. Several stock image sites use this, one that I belong to (ShutterPoint) even let's you customize the watermark (but that's a manual item - automated would be better probably).

Any more feedback on this?

May as well give it up, as nobody cares until it happens to them.

I would like to see a watermark applied to all challenge images after it's over. Funny thing is, after watermarking over 750 images in my portfolio, I don't even see them anymore, and I bet in time, everyone else would learn to ignore them as well when viewing images, so long as they are all the same.

I think this is largely true, though having a standardized watermark would make it easier for someone to develop an automated way to remove them ...

I do not believe the issue of watermarks at DPC is dead, it's more that, at this time, it's been given a lower priority than some other programming needs.

Maybe if I start a new thread that hollers out "STOP DPC THEFT - WATERMARK!!!!!" I might get a DPChallenge poll started? :P

I don't think hollering is necessary, patience is.

That's cool. Feedback I've been getting, is that the watermark is hated, but understood. Fair enough.

That was mostly tongue-in-cheek Paul - however, the hollering of this thread DID get a poll on challenge entry sizing. :)

I expect there will be a poll on watermarking once we have some practical options ready to present.

So, will we ever get the increased image and file size, or are these polls just for giggles? Didn't the last two polls show that most wanted an increase?
05/21/2007 04:53:14 PM · #191
Still no increase in sizes :(

Ya, probably the best I have done. 6.2 to a tough crowd. I don't think 720 helped.
