I was just asked how to do transparent watermark text and thought I'd post this quick and easy solution

Open your pic
Create a new layer and add your text
Go to "Add Layer Style" (bottom of layers palette, funny f shaped thing)
Choose blending options (top of list)
Choose Bevel/Emboss check box
Then move the top Black White slider to the right and the text becomes transparent leaving only the bevel / emboss effect

Play with the other blending options and see what happens

Enjoy (post your results if you like for fun and information purposes)

do that, then save the file as a PSD as "master watermark"

make a new action that "pastes, flattens, saves" (saving may be optional) save this action as "auto watermark"

When you have your images scaled and ready to go to the web - do this:

Open your Master Watermark file
Hide the background so just the watermark is showing
Press ctrl-shift-C (copies all the layers and effects at once)
Select File:Automate:Batch
Select the source folder as the one with the scaled web images
Select the Action to apply as the "auto watermark" from above
press "OK"

Photoshop then quickly opens every image in that folder, pastes the watermark right in the middle of it, flattens the image and saves it.

Then you can upload a whole folder of watermarked images!

Photoshop user magazine just had a "how-to" on this as well.
I just did this on all 800-some images in my portfolio
(MAJOR pain in the ass to save each, watermark & re-upload over original)
and as of right now, all have this done to them:

I wish I could do the challenge images as well, and DPC should consider
some form of protecting the members' challenge images, though this thread:
Copyright Protection Suggestions says it isn't a big deal by the lack of comments.

Guess who will win the NHL Playoffs and B-B-Q Beef Brisket are more important to photographers. </sarcasm>
