Just interesting. Got a comment on my shot which saw problems (not a big deal), but made me click on their profile.

I voted alot higher when I first joined... then I entered a challenge.

I vote nicer again now that I'm finally scoring well :-P

They probably are trolls that just get on to vote low on everybody. Maybe some are members that have another account just to vote down others while voting higher on thier pictures. I am not saying this is so but it does make one think... I gotta go there is a black helicotper hovering around my house!

Just think .... in they're eyes, you're closer to being #1 than anyone else! :-)

what do you guys think if we do not allow a person to vote in the same challenge where he/she submitted an photograph? this will make sure that the person is not scoring low because he/she has submission. :):)

Then people would just create separate accounts for voting... which is what I think the OP was alluding to in the first place.

I already do not vote in challanges that I have a submission. I do look through the photos to see peoples photos but feel that it is a conflict of interest for me to vote.

Sounds actually like a plan, that's what I do with a lot of the ones I've submitted already. However, I really do think that it's not just the voting(of course youre going to have people who vote low so the can hopefully score a bit higher) but the part I really like about the voting on the challenges is the critiquing. I really do try to comment on as many photos as I possibly can. The first 20 or so people usually get my comments before I get tired and just critique internally from then on. I gotta work on my stamina!!

Also wanted to comment, on the contrary to the comment that new people vote low- both me and my friend joined at the same time and actually realized that we might be voting too high. The first time I voted I must have given out at least 7 or 8 10's. but that's not good either because that doesn't leave room. Not all 5 of those photos were perfect, maybe two were. So we actually dropped it down a notch until we could get familiar with the voting style for this site.

I do wish we could have people who win with 9's and god forbid someone actually get a 10!!

I really do think we should have the voting moderated on this site though. If someone has given all 1's out to a competition they entered and 10's to the other competition to average their score out a bit, really need to be kicked off!

So some people are voting low. If they vote lower than what someone arbitrarily thinks is the norm, but they do it for everyone, it has no net effect.

I do wonder at the people who vote 1s and 2s on shots I find spectacular, but then again, I wonder at the people who vote 9s and 10s on shots I find less than spectacular.

There is already a system in place. If a person votes all low or all high numbers the system automatically drops all of their votes at rollover.

Has anyone noticed that most of them have no camera, they are vote only?? That strikes one as strange no?? :)

Not really. Some people love to look at the pictures, but have no skill or desire to learn. Not everyone that is "No camera" votes low.

Can of worms! The grass is pink and there r no trolls :)

But for me personally, I found i was being bombarded with 1's and 2's only in exclusive open challenges (for whatever reason). So i took the decision to not participate outside of member challenges, as it is my god given right not to. I've been cool with the voting ever since.

I do test the waters in the bleachers on rare occasions, when i get extremely bored.

Why do people start thread asking the same unanswerable question that's been asked and unanswered a zillion times before? Jason? ;P

I assert that when he went to Arizona he was abducted by aliens and was 're-programmed'. Upon returning his programming kicked in and he was forced to posit that the mafia is really controlling the voting instead of the real voters. Aliens. Aliens who survive on Virtual Ribbons. In other words Scalvert.

The new users are not yet brainwashed to vote highly the ultra-colored photos that generally grace the front page and bring fresh eyes and votes to challenges. It takes awhile before they conform and their votes go up. :)

Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

They're all under my control. Knocking superstars is the only chance I have of placing high.

This is an honest and revealing statement about DPC voting habits and probably describes a typical voter.

Just so you know, I read this as "knocking up superstars is the only chance I have of placing high."

I think I need sleep.
