I was genuinely hoping that this one would be my first to break a 6.0, and while it was still my highest, it fell short of my expectations. What, in your opinion, should I do to improve such an image? The only negative comment that I got was that it should be cropped more on the right, but when I deleted that boken, much of the depth of the photo was lost. Anyway, respond, please! =D

The thing that I really like about this image is the beautiful colors. I don't think that technically there is anything wrong with it. I do think, though, that the composition could be a bit better. I'm not sure what the main subject is in the picture.

I think if you really had thought about what the main subject of the picture was, and then used all other elements to highlight that, either by use of color, leading lines, etc, I think it could have been improved. Just my opinion. Hope it helps, anyway.

I really like the photo. The only thing I might suggest technically is to swing the point of view around so you're catching that butterfly shape more face-on. Of course you may have tried that... anyway, I agree that the image doesn't seem to have a strong single subject, and I might go one further to suggest it doesn't have a strong single emotional statement. From your title, it sounds like you were trying to say something about stillness... you might explore that further.

That being said, it's a good shot and it's a style of shot that isn't going to score particularly well with this community-- shots do well here when they really jump out with a strong visual and emotional impact. That's an effect of the scoring system here, IE scoring 200 shots in a very short time. Looking at your other shots, you've got some very strong compositions but you're playing more with shapes, geometry, abstractions rather than flashy shots with purty colors. So your scores will reflect that.
