I use Mail on my Mac for downloading emails etc - I noted that my server was getting full so i followed the online help and made a new folder to download all the emails - I did the following and have now lost all the emails both on my Mac and the server seems to be empty even though I didn't ask the server to delete anything?? Does anyone have any help please??
Here is what i did by the book as the Mac help says...

Thanks in advance
Jeff

Hi Jeff -

I'm not a Mac user, so I'm sorta flying blind here. When you open Mail you should have two mailboxes displayed. One would be the normal .Mac mailbox where your new messages arrive. The other would be the newly created mailbox that resides on your hard disk. The messages you moved should be in the newly created mailbox. Could you post a screenshot of the Mail app so we can see whether both mailboxes are there?

You haven't erased/deleted any files from the Mac hard disk have you? The mailbox you created on your hard disk will probably be represented either by a single file or by a folder with files in it, so I just want to confirm that you haven't deleted the file(s) that correspond to the mailbox you created.

I'd try a search on your machine for newly created files on that date. The messages can't possibly be disappeared.

Thanks for the help guys - After making a new folder on my Mail program I transfered the emails to it - After a while it showed the messages there. It seemed though that an automatic delete seems to have occured from the server as the messages are no longer there either. Trying Mac help now!
Cheers and any more suggestions welcome - Also going to do a search.

OK - eyewave - Seems like we are almost there - Cannot thank you enough. Have found a folder with all the old emails that I can read - Just got to figure out how to get them back on the Mail application as importing them is not working. Thank you though once again! Much appreciated.

MASSIVE THANK YOU - To those who helped here. I managed to recover all the emails with help from both friends here and an online program. Without both all would have been lost - Just another great reason to be a member of this site. If by the way anyone has the problem of converting emix files to mbox (This is more of a Mac thing) then go here.

It saved my life and is free - Although I will be sending a donation!
Again thank you all
Jeff
