I drive down to Washington DC today to take a photo of the Capital Building for my Sacred challenge "A Patriot's Interpretation" and unfortunately was unable to enter it. :(
Here is the submission that I could not make:
and here is the original that explains why I could not enter it...
Just my luck!!! lol |

You should have gone to the building site and explained that you needed the crane gone as you had to take a photo for a DPC entry.
I am sure they would have smiled and obliged ;)

I don't know Natator. On Sunday afternoon, I may have had to take it down myself. |

I had the same problem last year on a business trip to DC. Got up early just before sunrise, went to take some nice shots before my meeting at the reflecting pool, and there was a crane (maybe same one ;) in the pic! I think it's part of the new security system. ;) |

I can really relate to your plight. It's seems there are always a few of those big construction cranes somewhere on the DC skyline. Nice clean up job. |

I figure it's a common problem with urban photography. There's always a crane somewhere, and it's usually where you want to shoot.
However, all was not lost. I did get some nice pictures while I was there and also took a tour of the Natural History Museum (which currently has a very impressive exhibit on Nature Photography for anyone in the area).
Besides, by the look on her face, I think my daughter had a good time.
