Day 4

I'm stuck in fog again today, so I didn't wander very far. At some point I'll do a shot of the house, but not today :)

This is with my house to my back, and it's of some leaves. I used selective desat (I think, I've never done it before). I think that made some of the leaves a bit sharp on the edges, but I blended it some (never done that before, either), and I think it helped (some).

I'm really trying to catch up on comments, so I'm copying someone else here who's trying to comment at least on pics from people who've commented on his; so, if you have commented on mine, I'll get to you, I promise!

Oh, I almost forgot: this is fun!

Because so many asked to see the size of the Christmas tree (yesterday's entry) And Jeffrey had the good idea to put a person in the shot ... here you go. My husband wants me to tell you all that he is over 7 feet tall (but my nose would be getting even bigger with that lie)! He's a tall 5 foot 7.
He just checked it out and said he looks like a gnome. And lastly, because it's not a challenge, I could play with one of my favorite effects. I know, it doesn't look so photo like this way ... but I like it and I've been assured by Team Suck teammates that I should go for what I like. THANKS.

Day 4 This is one of my favorite parks, and my husband and I often walk our dog there. (My husband usually groans when I pick up my camera on the way out!) Only a small area of the large pond (or small lake) is not frozen, and all the ducks and geese are gathered there.

Location: Close Memorial Park, Springfield, MO

Theres one more coming

For a change of pace from my mountain spree. This is day 3 - or 4... who's counting anymore - hahaha! I'm spending a lot of time on this and it's so much fun! Both the creating of images and the viewing of and commenting on everyone else's photos.

That's just gorgeous! Looks very other-wordly, like a pier on an alien planet.

Damn. Just realised we're already in February.
To make up for the first few days, here's a few from the archives

Day 1 (from Sept):

Kenilworth Castle, about 20 miles from my house.

Day 2 (from Dec):

The Mailbox, big shopping centre/fancy apartments/restaurants complex in the heart of the city.

Day 3 (from Nov):

Theres lots of lovely canals around here - can imagine this is the first of many similar photos in my PaD.

And today's of course.
4th Feb -

Wish we had more than the 720px for panos, but nevermind.

I get sites like these just 2 mins cycle from my house, if I head in the right direction - perfect for a brief photo session on the way to work, or, like today, just a sunday morning stroll.

I don't think there's a size limit to shots in your portfolio? Still, some folks are on dialup, so I try to limit them about the same as I would for a challenge. :)

There isn't a size limit to portfolio shots, but there is a forum rule about posting large images in threads. Images larger than 500 pixels in either dimension (about 30k) should be posted as links or thumbs.

This is a TV-tower here in Yakutsk. I think it's the highest building here :) when you pass nearby, your FM-radio usually has some wave troubles))

The street beside my place. The oaks and other trees are in my side yard. The thing with big leaves on the one oak is philidendron, the same plant that some people grow in a cup in the window. The street ends in a ditch behind me at the end of the block, so there is little traffic this way.
My 35 yr old son and family live the opposite way about 3 houses down. We enjoy a lot of time with each other.

Day 4 : - read the image details to find out who this is. The photo was shot today at the Willow Winter Carnival. Wood chopping competitions are an annual event there. After all, if you're gonna live in the frozen tundra you gotta be able to chop wood. It took this guy only 33 seconds to chop through the log.
