I just finished commenting on any image in Still life that had started or finished with a 4 or below. I moved some of them up, the rest stayed the same with comments as to why they are voted the way I did. If anyone has any questions about my comment, please, PM me, I'll be happy to talk to you further about it. I hope I have not offended anyone with my comments, I tried to make suggestions on how to try them differently or make them better. I hope my daughter understands, she's in that group.

Oh, this also means that if you did not receive a comment from me you got a 5 or higher on my vote.

I think you've done exactly what people want. We are always seeing threads where people want the voter to leave comments as to why they voted their image low.

Now, let's see how many of those same people whine about your comments and how it's not fair, as you didn't see their art the same way they do.... after all, how can you score art? Everyone has their own interpretation :-)

Deannda,
IMHO if people take offense to comments that you in your heart make to help someone improve then they do NOT belong here! I am kind of glad that I didn't get a comment from you this round but look forward to recieving them in the future!

This is something that is inevitable! It is also very tiring to see challenge after challenge! I decided several weeks ago to not participate any longer in those kinds of threads! Like I told Deannda, if people don't like your constructive criticism, they don't belong here!

Conversly, I hope that if people DO want constructive criticism that this is a place they can get it!

Yup!... I shall be doing commenting again.. I haven't in a while, and I think that's not fair. You all always leave me good comments, so I need to start returning the favor.

I welcome any comments from that are clear and specific about how the image could be better or how the image was good but not comments that are sarcastic or mean.

Not sure this is the right thread to ask in, but I've received 80-odd votes and no comments at all. My picture hasn't been rated very highly. I'm new here, so is this normal?

Usually average scores seem to get the fewest amount of comments. You can always request for comments after the challenge is over. I'm sure you will get a couple that way......and welcome to DPC.

Thank you for the score adjustment and my first comment in this challenge.

It's not really normal, there seems to be very few commentors in this challenge in particular for some reason! That is one of the reasons that I've decided to comment on almost every image I vote on! If I get to your image you will most likely get a comment from me! 64 votes and 51 comments so far.

I like voting first to get a look at all the pictures. Come back and comment later and readjust scores accordingly. Use to make about 100 comments a week, but I'm already burnt out.

Since, I don't get too many comments in the challenges I like to go to the commentators site and comment on all their pictures. Only the comments made during the voting stage. Kind of a thank you I guess.

I think I'll probably have to do that. 90 votes now and still no comments. :\ Thanks for the suggestion. Which forum do I post that request in?

Thanks a lot. :)

After the challenge ends just go to "Individual Photograph Discussion" and start your own thread.

We want the photographer anonymous until it's over so we don't comment or post pictures from current photos in the voting stage, but we don't mind seeing a thread later about your picture.
