Well, for those who have been waiting, Vista and new Microsoft Office programs will be released Monday night at mid-night. SOooooo I would guess PS CS3 should follow very soon.

I was initially looking forward to vista but since M$ changed the EULA so the license can be moved only ONCE which really sucks for someone like me that upgrades allot. I'm not sure if I'm willing to make the jump this time, and the fact that there are 5 different versions is kinda a pain in the arse...

Ya all the different versions has got to be a pain for users as well as support people at all the retailers. I was not aware of the one move restriction. That really does suck, I replaced my main HD last week and had to reinstall. I also upgrade equipment and HD too much to be restricted like you said.

your problem may be solved if you could get your hands on Vista RC2...

No it won't be. Vista RC2 expires in June 2007, same as the other pre-releases. After that date, it won't operate on your system.

And yes, I've thought about changing the system clock, but Microsoft probably thought of that too. The problem is that Vista keeps reporting back to the mothership, so there'll probably be some software that reports the correct date back to it, or a termination code for RC2.

Anyway, I've been happy using RC1 for the past 3 months, so I'm looking forward to buying a full copy of Vista (and I'm hoping all the hardware vendors release their functioning drivers for Vista by then).

The 5 versions ar etailored to your hardware not the user. Ultimate has everything including the features of Media Center. Ultimate is not for those with an integrated graphics card. (minus a few of the good ones).

Ive beta tested Vista Beta 2 and RC1. All my hardware functions under it and i RC1 fixe dthe majority of software isues i had in Beta 2.

The business versions not for you unless you need them. Past that Home, basic POS that u want vista on. Home premium will run on som POS's but is a bit more graphics itnensive provides some features. The business versions provide business features. Ultimate hardware intensive, All features below, bitlocker drive encryption.

The choice is easier then picking out which of the 9 Ford Mustang Packages u want or can afford.

I know that June 2007 is the expiry for RC1, but isn't RC2 unlimited?

Yeah. I'm not buying it unless I buy a new laptop and if that happens I'm more likely to go MAC this time.

For those who are thinking about switching to Vista I would wait to hear what the drivers for third party hardware and software is going to be like. I've been running XP 64 since it was released on a separate machine and still can't get working printer drivers for any of my HP or Okidata printers. Heads up on antivirus the only operating software that I could find was Avast and it is Vista ready in 32 bit & 64 bit installs.

Okay 6 Magazines published that XP64 was not ready and I personally knew that 64 bit drivers were gonna be a problem.

I have an HP 3650 printer, an AC97 sound chip (very common on pentium4 machines) an ATI X700 Pro AGP card with 256mb of GDDR3. ANd i use a bluetooth adapter that the driver for in XP sucks.

Vista had drivers fro all my equipment. SHortly after RC1 came out they even added the drivers for my Pinnacle 500 PCI Video input card.

Not eevryone will have this luck but for me all my hardware works. and ive tested Need for speed most wanted black edition on it and it ran just as bad as XP j/k

for 32 Bit there were 3 antiviruses running in BETA 2 2 of them worked on RC1 only one of them offically though.

//www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html

Interesting read how there are hardware limitations and how Hollywood has control over hardware approval and how Microsoft/Hollywood is trying to create a monopoly for mediastreams.

I will only switch to Vista when XP isn't sold anymore and by then I hope something new has come up from another party.

Mac is also owned by MS, no option.

Yeah, it's really super cool!

Although I'm running Vista, Photosynth also runs on Windows XP SP2.
