Inspired by the current thread Comments you never had the guts to add, I thought it would be equally funny to list our least favorite comment received.

No need to mention who said them - just share the laughter.

I'll start:

(1) okay, what does that mean?
(2) Didn't find the image all that interesting.

sadly from the same challenge

Least favorite comment?

"a twisted little number...guess which one"

I won't divulge who made the comment. Suffice to say that while I have an idea what they were trying to say, I just wish they would have said something useful.

Where was the health and safety officer when this was taken, behind the lens?
Grinding in the buff, it's not big and it's not clever.
Don't do this at home kids!

"You totally nailed it, crayon! The secret to what women want. Now take yer puppies advice, put a cig in yer mouth and panties on yer head and go out clubbin - you'll be fighting them off!"

this comment was left on my photo by someone I look up to.
so i took his advise, and found out that the advise don't work - the hard way... I'll get you for this ____ !!!

1)"To me, this is a waste of a perfect subject. A bit less Photoshop 5" (I didn't even USE photoshop on this image)

2)"I don't get it?! No offence but I really don't get it, I voted a 2 on this, since it's not sharp, it's oddly cropped, weak in contrast and the black and white cat head got this cheap grey tone. It's not beautiful to me, nothing but annoying.

I hope you don't take it personaly but I really don't get it. Thanks to your top 20 anyway."
(I had a whole long, somewhat sardonic discussion with this person, but we worked it out)

3)"I'd like to be kind, but this looks horrible...sorry :-(" (I must say, in this case I agree)

4)":)" (lol, an extremely helpful comment!)

I used to hate getting the one word/short phrase comments like "Nice." or "Well done." or where the person just leaves you their score: "3" or on the rare occasion "10.", because I never found those helpful in improving my photography.

But now I realise that it's just a COMMENT block, it's not a critique. I can't expect every comment to contain valuable photographic advice.

Sometimes all you have to say about a photo is "Astounding!" or "Zork!". I don't even know what Zork! means, but then sometimes I really don't know what the photo means either...

So my point is that comments are good, regardless of how helpful they are to your photography.

So my least favourite comment would be [BLANK].

Not my least favorite, but the most amusing of late:

"Bird poop"

I think Langdon may wanna implement a feature where we can choose to "lock" comments from being changed or deleted on our photos, lol

Why is it a perfect fit???? What kind of sneaker is that anyway? The lighting and border is nice but it is truly making me fall asleep. Try something a little bit more interesting next time.

For this contest everyone who has the word “circle” in their title is getting a lower score. This is a copy and paste version that I am including in every photo that I downgrade due to the title. We as members of DPchallenge know the topic of the challenge – we do not need to reread the topic every time we reach a photo. If circle is in the title and it is appropriate I will most likely not down grade, but it better be good. I am sorry if you do not agree with my method of protest – but scores are all I have.

"bad tase"... I assume he meant "bad taste"

Why did they vote that? Why bother telling me their vote if I don't know why they voted?

My least appreciated comments were:

"Is this the most interesting thing you have seen during an entire year? I'm sorry."

With one from Lárus that made up for that :)
"Very nice, love the contrast and clarity of this shot, great DOF and cute expression on the cat. Gave this an 8."

Some people misunderstand, I do too sometimes but don´t go slamming people for it!

Another rather hurtful was:

"creepy and insult to woman"

Never understood this comment and logic:

"All on scale of 0-2
Focus: 0
Lighting: 1
Composition: 1
Creativity: 1
Wow Factor: 1

total 4"

The funniest of all comments is where someones says oh I love this one 10 from me or something to that effect and then at the end of voting there isn´t a 10 in the score LOL!!!!

I don't know about appreciated comments, but for me, certainly the most useless comment was:

"I want to be nice but no sorry.."

The Viewer (no me by the way) has broken your image down into 5 catagories with a maximum score of 2 points for each catagory. If you were to have scores the highest value of 2 points per catagory, you would have a total of 10 points. Appearantly he thought your focus was lousy and the lighting, composition, creativity and wow factor were just average. hence the 4

ROfl xilebo on the ghost 10. I think I have done that myself once or twice. purely a result of my own idiocy though... :)

Yeah, those 0-2 comments tick me off because adding up totals scaled on 0-2 is dumb. We are given 1-10 to show gradiations on how we feel about a picture, but the person who uses such a system throws all of that away in favor of a 0-1-2, then adding these highly polarized results up. In essence, they are saying that the pic is either crap, average or stunning. What a waste of 10 gradients. If they want to effectively use a break-down system, how much better it would be if they were to just average things down. Makes me feel like they never made it past grade 2 into the 'big kids' multiplication and division math... The end result on that picture was that the person felt that the picture was roughly average, possibly slightly better, and ended up giving it a 4 - a vote that will surely bring down the end result. I'm sure it's appreciated by the recipient.

Here's one that's still stinging from the current "best of 2006"

photo journalistic entry, i kinda hate too see photo where children suffer, so i'll just give 5 and move on ... and yea the frame is not okay

That one bites because I get the feeling that I got marked down because it was photo journalistic. Then I got the feeling that I was blamed for children suffering.

Personally, when I don't know how to vote on a photo, I skip it. That's why those options are there... *sigh*...

All my other comments on the photo are extremely enthusiastic, but my score sucks. It's not even my personal best... pretty sad seeing as my personal best isn't even a 6. I won't be disappointed with those comments though unless I find out that I didn't get a single vote over 7...
