I'd hold on to the sunglasses if you plan to spend any amount of time around the water. But right -- umbrellas would just blow away. Get a good raincoat or poncho -- REI Coop is based in the area, and usually has good prices and products : )

The Olympic Peninsula is west of Seattle, on the other side of Puget Sound. You can drive around via Tacoma or take a ferry across. This was actually taken from the train just south of Tacoma.

When I first moved to Oregon I saw a commercial for one of the area colleges. It was graduates walking up to get their diploma in the pouring rain. One girl had an umbrella. The guy handing out the diploma went to hand her the diploma and took it back. The girl took down her umbrella, and the guy handed the diploma to her.

Umbrellas are for newbs.

Got it, no umbrella shopping!

Anyone need any sunscreen or a rattlesnake bite kit?

I don't eat seafood or drink coffee, will they let me in?

Any good Mexican resturants or chili shops up there?

Yes, there is a fair amount of good mexican food. We have a moderately large hispanic population (well, large for anywhere outside the southwest).
