Do they make artificial rain? :oP

It's rained for two weeks here in NY. Today it broke and got sunny. The weather didn't just know the new challenge, it knew in advance! Creepy.

.

Yeah, what's up with that? We haven't seen rain here since May. And probably won't until late October or even November.

So, to even it out, I want a "Sun-n-Surf" or "Sand Castle" challenge in January!

A typhoon has just passed us by (only a little wind here with some rain on the weekend.) In its wake, it brings up HOT air from equatorial regions - I'd be surprised to see rain in the next week.

Rain doesn't necessarily mean water!

It can be raining "cats and dogs" and you could stage (stuffed) animals dropping into a puddle of kibble-n-bits; or have them dropping onto an umbrella.

Anyone need any other suggestions?

Here's another...it could be raining bullets.

Good suggestions, but we all know both of those, no matter how well executed, would score horribly.

I disagree. I've seen plenty of things that look fake and it didn't matter to the voters so if you actually shoot cats and dogs raining from the sky and it ACTUALLY looks real I bet it would overcome whatever amount of DNMC votes it were to get.

The fake vs. real dilemna isn't what I was referring to. I mean that, generally speaking, that sort of creative interpretation of the challenge description rarely does well.

I agree but if you have enough wow factor and your execution is flawless voters tend to be much more tolerable when it comes to the challenge theme part. Just my opinion though.

You're right. I retract the "no matter how well executed" part of my original statement :)

Rain huh ! I've just finished a long haul of distracting work and now am ready to get involved in a challenge. The current challenge - rain !
You wouldn't believe it - we have just had the wettest September (up until about a week ago)for about 80 years.
In the last week it has jumped from 18 degrees up to 30 degrees - not a drop of water in sight !! Aw well - I'll have to put the thinking cap on.

It's raining right now here in Athens, Greece... but i can't leave office. Would be nice if i could... Hope it's gonna last for long

Take a look at the original Rain challenge. I was surprised to see half of the top 10 shots didn't have rain in them. Some just have drops and no actual rain falling. So it seem voters were liberal with the interpretation of rain, at least during last years challenge.
