Since it's a long weekend here in the U.S. I think I'm going to sit down and look through some of the previous pictures on the site and comment on them. Hopefully find some favorites to add.

Thanks, Cimarron98 for showing me the browse link.

Thanks for posting this. I actually went into the "least comments" section, and there are 8 pages of photos which have no comments. I browsed through them for awhile and found a few to comment on, and even one to put in my favorites. (I'm still looking) Thanks again for posting. ~Heather~

I added " With love from grandma, on my 4th" to my favorite. Great image.

I think this is a great idea! Considering that most of them are portfolio and prints, it would be great to get unsolicited comments once in awhile. By the way...have to check...are DPCPrints photos able to be commented on without being a member? Gonna go through some of these non commented and least viewed shots. (C:
By the way Heather...thanks for having me on your list as a fav photog!! SWEET!!

In order for prints to be available you have to upload them to your portfolio first or be from an old challenge. So unless someone is hiding their portfolio images, you should be able to comment on prints in their original uploaded portfolio state. Of course if you find an image on the print page that you want to comment on then you have to hunt down the portfolio image for it. Having real names instead of user names makes it a little more difficult now too. Unless there is a way to get to the DPC profile from the person's print page that I havent worked out yet.

Kind of what I meant, but for the general public to comment on DPCPrints. I am able to hunt those down, if I want, but is too much of a pain, in most cases

If you go to photo gallery you can find a lot of beautiful images without comments. Pick a subject and start commenting. I think this is a great place to learn and get ideas for yourself.

Another fun thing to do is find someone that is online, click on them and do a drive by commenting.

I was going around commenting on picture when I came across this one. Anyone care to add to the comments.

Going back and commenting on older pictures is great, but it's a shame that in most cases the photographer wont see them for a number of reasons.

1) I doubt many people memerize exactly how many comments they have on an image and unless they want to go through every single challenge entry and portfolio entry, there is no real way to know if someone has added an additional comment.

It would be nice if there was a way to either highlight an image that received new comments since the last time the photographer viewed it(perhaps change the number to red) or possibly PM when a new comment is received, although that may cause too much spam.

2) On similar lines, it would be nice to have a a page like the profile page that lists all of the portfolio images with number of comments and favorites. It is often a pain to go through all of your portfolio images when someone adds it as a favorite.

Totally agree. I think it would be a pleasant surprise to receive a comment on a picture you took awhile back. If only they knew about it.

There could be an option in the preferences saying "PM me if someone comments on my picture"

One way I"ve seen quite a few of mine is by frequently checking the Photos>Browse menu, which takes you to recently commented-on photos. Unfortunately, (post-voting) comments are rare enough that photos can stay on that page for several hours.

In your profile, you can click on the number of comments you have gotten. Then you can sort by most recent. I found a comment I didn't know about by looking there once, but I guess it's easier for me cause I'm not submitting anything new to get comments on.

I have never thought to click on that, until now that is. I guess you do learn something new every day! That will certainly be a lot more helpful now I know it's there.

The two other web communities I've joined have this option. IIt is quite functional, especially for people who have quite a collection. I used to click on all my file fotos everyday to snoop for comments, but now that I have accumulated bunches, I've stopped checking on a regular basis. A site-generated alert will really be helpful.
