Anyone have any high quality photography of college football for which they'd interested in selling a license? I'm in a pretty big hurry, so if you do or know someone who does, please e-mail me drew@drewmedia.com or post back here. If anyone knows a good place to buy royalty free college football photography, please let me know. Traditional stock sites are letting me down bigtime in this area.

Thanks,
Drew

How about asking the Sports Information Director at one of the universities around there if they'd provide one in exchange for the credit/publicity?

Ah, I knew that would get your attention! Took 27 minutes and 16 seconds though, that internet slowdown must be for real ....

BTW: I am named after someone who was an All-American football player at Rutgers ... which sounds Ivy League but isn't, I think.

Drew - corbis has a lot of decent stuff. Not sure what you're looking for, but ... I'm sure RG and Alan can help anyways.

Be careful with how you intend to use the image.

The NCAA has very strict rules about how photographs of their athletes can be used. Unless it is for "editorial" purposes, I think the image will require licensing.

There was a thread on DPReview about this. Quoting from the post by Wally Jarratt of Searcy Spots:

According to the NCAA it is against their rules for anyone to photograph athletes in college and receive compensation for those photographs.

...

The way I understand it (and I hope I am incorrect), as a freelance sports photographer, if I shoot a game or event that involves a college athlete (amateur), in no way can sell that image for any purpose...including to the parents of that athlete. Furthermore, if I sell anything on my website, I cannot post the images on the website (even if they are not for sale), because that would constitute marketing using the image of an amateur athlete.

...

Actually the loss of revenue doesn't bother me as much as their wanting to restrict me from posting a gallery (even if it is not for sale).

And the way they have you over a barrel isn't that they'll do something to me...but instead the University may be sanctioned...or worse, the athlete would LOSE their amateur status. I certainly don't want to be the cause of that.

I think you should go with Riders shots. She has the inside track so to speak since she is a Photo Major at Cornell and is specifically handling sports photography. Not to mention She most likely knows about the NCAA rules or knows someone who can find out. I feel she is the Most qualified person on the entire site.

That is just an afterthought
