hello, My name is Dean and i need to apologise for using Bill Jemisons photo for my benefit.

I have emailed Bill himself, apologising greatly and sincerely for my actions and expressing the way i have experienced and learnt from that experience that i would never do something that stupid and disgraceful in my life again.
I sent Bill this email:
To Bill Jemison, i have commented to another of your fellow DP photographers expressing how i am greatly sorry and how i took advantage of your photograph, i must admit that i am a new photographer - or trying to be one and a young one at that, and i was overwhlemed by the comments i recieved from your work. I got too obsessed with recieving the comments, and i regret everything i have done. I will make a public apology and i know what i have done deserves no respect.. With my complete apology i have disgraced my self and have no one to turn to. Please i hope that one day i will be welcomed back (not expecting to) and seen for a person who does not take advantage of others. I know what i have done is the worst thing a person can do and i am feeling the emotions that come with having my name disgraced.
Sorry, i truely am sorry
never will anything like this ever happen again with me.
With my greatest reget
Dean

- i sent this too him, and thankfully we have made up and starting to get back in line. I am making this apologetic post, so others will know what i have done and that i am attempting to get back on the right path.

Sorry for the convieniece i have caused everyone.
I only ever took the one image from a different person, but that has caused so many holie in the community and disrespect which had cost me everything. Please forgive me - not right away but eventually.
Thankyou for listening
Dean

Whatever - show me the picture - wanna know if it was worth taking. Take one of mine any time - I think Bill must be proud.

You seem sincere in your apology and it sounds like you are learning a very hard lesson. It takes a good person to admit their mistakes as you are now. If Bill Jemison understands and is forgiving the transgression, then for me I say “Go forth and sin no more”. With the caveat that anymore of this sort of thing, I’m sure, won’t be tolerated.

Good Luck

Hey Dean
I just wanted to acknowledge your apology. We all do stupid stuff, but it takes a good person to take responsibility for their actions. If you get that now, at your age, thats a good thing.
You'll find this is a cool community of people, you may even learn more then photography ;)

Assuming you really are as sincere as that apology sounds, I'm sure the way you feel because of this is punishment enough.
Pat on the back for facing the music.

Shows a lot of guts to come out and apologize, in front of all, and not hide behind private email/PM's for fear of a public caning/stoning by the mob here.
Doesn't make what you did right, but sure goes a long way in my book as a step in the right direction, so long as it is sincere.

Thanks for stepping up to the plate, and admitting to the tougher side of being human.

It takes guts to make such an apology. Kudos to you for doing so publicly and for not trying to justify what you did. Having made many indescretions in my youth, I respect the way you stepped up to the plate and took responsibility. Hopefully Bill will be forgiving, and you might have the opportunity to redeem yourself (with your own photography).
Cheers,
Roxanne

Edit: Not plaigerizing Brad, we were writing at the same time:)

Wow, well done for doing the right thing. Hopefully it won't take long before one of your own photos earns you similar rewards. I have a lot of respect for the way you've dealt with this in this thread.

Well done Dean on having the courage to apologise. It seems you got temporarily carried away, and believe me we have all done things in our youth and beyond that we have regreted. Thank goodness the people around us forgive and forget. It's just one incident in a lifetime of incidents.

So, let me get this straight. If I steal a image as my own and apologize, everything is ok then???? Give me a break. Nothing short of removal is acceptable. Just my opinion anyway. Whatever management wants is ok.

Oh, I get it. You're trying to break the record for longest thread;^)

isn't it nice what sincerity and a humble heart can get you? most times it brings forward other people who know they have made countless mistakes (usually ten times worse than this), and these other people accept the apology and embrace you going forward.

lesson learned. not only by you, but thru your humility hopefully others can now learn from you.

YAY...let's all give this cat a little slap on the wrist, a ribbon, a birthday cake, and some nice big smilie, heart-felt hugs. I call BS...you wouldn't be sorry if you weren't caught. You'd still be parading around, passing off other people's photos as your own.

You get no sympathy from me, whatsoever. You can all bash me all you want...I'm numb to it.

LOL deapee, you're something else!!!
I'm not about to bash you. I am obviously more forgiving than you are, but you are entitled to your feelings and I admire that you're willing to swim upstream yet again.

What actually happened in the first place?
02/10/2006 09:13:12 PM · #21
Apparently the dude took his photos and posted them on deviant art, claiming they were his own, and took in comment after comment about how awesome of a photographer he was. The more he got comments, the more photos of other people's he stole and added to his gallery, and the more his popularity grew and grew...then he got caught, and now all of a sudden, he's sorry.

I agree, it's not the worst thing a person can do, but this kind of behavior *could* be an indication of bigger (more evil, more criminal) things to come. I'd honestly suggest a psychologist for the time being, see what they have to say...and I'm really trying to help, not be mean.

I submit that he should not be allowed to participate on this site. How can he be trusted. The worst thing you can do on this site is to steal someones work and run it as your own.
