Mini-"protest" against the way people are behaving lately, ALL around.

I don't want to offend anyone by either not responding or not having a clue what they are talking about but I am turning forums off for awhile. This is not I'm leaving. This is not I won't enter or comment or vote or whatever. This is - almost every day something "stirs the pot" in the forums and I can either spend the time clicking away or I can turn them off. Since I seem unable to just ignore it, I'm turning it off. The forums degenerate into something like a train wreck far too often.

For anyone interested in the technical details of such a feat, go to "My home" then "my preferences" and on the right side set "recent forum threads" to 0.

I will be posting to my watched threads including the Business of Photography 1 and 2 groups as well as other watched thread when time permits so no worries to my groups. I will not be doing further mentorship groups however until I turn forums back on.

Again, I know 99.9999% of you don't really care (and the other .0001 are happy!) but I figured I talk to enough of you on a semi-regular basis that I'd at least explain...for those out there saying "another protest against..." or "another he's leaving - just leave!" post ... sorry! I'm not trying to change anything, influence anyone, etc. I don't have an agenda here, I don't crave the attention of a leaving...

If we get block individual forums buttons between now and when I turn everything back on, someone PM me! :) I'm here for the photography...

til I get really bored (again),

You should just learn to ignore it like me!!!

:P

It's much more fun when...well you only have fun. I don't like delving into the whole politics of this place, I think it's all really silly.

I'm with you Caleb, I just stay away from those ugly threads. They are boring anyway.
When I get fed up I remember there are enough good kewl peeps here to make it worth while :)

Probably a good move, Mav. More mature than many around here. Shoot some great photos, but know that at least a few of us will miss havin' you around. :D

Well Mav, I asked hiatus, and he doesn't care either. ;-)

Ignore, enjoy, make fun.

Under thread options, I see an "ignore" option. I've never used it, but isn't that the same as blocking it?

EDIT: Never mind...you said "forums", not threads. The only one I know you can block is the rant forum.

Wave - I AM here for the .. no no..photography. That IT.

Stare - I've tried...sometimes I can, sometimes I can't. I'm drawn to that stuff like it's a powerful magnet and I'm just an iron filing.

Art - hiatus is a jerk sometimes too...but I'll go put up with him. lol

Canadian - yeah sometimes I don't mind, sometimes I even enjoy a good tussle and sometimes it's just ... too much.

Sky, Loz & Rebel - I know someone cares, but yeah I just need the break.

I did come back to this thread cuz it's in my profile still. lol Thanks everyone for the replies and the nice PMs I got... I'll probly check this one a bit for awhile but never know. :)

Don't worry mav, I'll continue to harass you via email. :-) Oh crap...you could just block my email though. lol

Hey, and if they get 'block user' I'll definitely let ya know that, too! ;-)

I'd definitely take block individual user, though I have to say no one user was responsible for this. It's the whole contingent of users who I already called by name in another thread, and don't really want to here - I don't feel I'm missing much so far! :)

Thanks! I've actually had more fun on DPC so far during my break - I'm viewing more photos, looking at the challenges harder, I've added a few new faves... and I'm still posting to three or four watched threads, so no major withdrawal! ;)

Good thing you notified us of your hiatus. Otherwise it might be hard to tell.
