As I was carefully going thru all of the photos from the Best of 2005, I came across a photo that is almost exactly the same as one I submitted earlier this month for the Jan Free Study. Now I don't know what to do. Because that challenge got seen first, people will see my Jan Free study entry and think I copied. I loved my pix, and also loved the one in the 2005 entry. At least I have time to change it...but what if was the best picture I ever took....or the one that looks like mine wins and I will never know...such decisions...maybe this thread should have been a rant... Any opiniions of what I should do?

Unless it's some ridiculously creative set up, such that it's the most amazing coincidence ever that you both shot it, I wouldn't worry about people thinking it's a rip off. There are so many shots that are done by many, so many subjects that everyone has access to, it's not at all unusual for things to be similar from time to time.

I had that same problem with my second challenge. I entered a "creative and original" shot, only to find the exact same picture in the current challenge. I worried all week about whehter to pull it or not, but I left it in and I did not get one comment about it being a copy.

I think you should leave yours in!

Yes, these things happen. I have a "tribute" in the next free study, and I posted that before the Tribute challenge was announced. I'll probably rename my entry at least. LOL

Thanks for the replies. I may leave it. At least I have time to think about it. Maybe I will still take another most amazing shot!

That is hilarious. Somehow I feel that these weren't quite the coincidence.

The thing that gets me is the 1st & 2nd as well as the 3rd & 4th are extremely similar.

They weren't... the two photogs were BF/GF, and took the photos on the same outing, and each with the other as the subject, I believe.

You're absolutely correct. 1 and 2 were taken with the same camera as were 3 and 4. Still good photos.
