I am working on a shot and the background appears blue. It was relatively white in natural light, so somehow it became blue. Problem is I want to whiten up just the background, but not other things in the picture that are blue. I've tried using the lasso for just that area, but it looks fake. Will doing another layer work? I'm not very adept at that, so I might need a little tutoring. Any suggestions? THANKS!! Judy

What software are you using, I am assuming that since the background was white in real life you are having a white balance issue. If you are using photoshop.. I can help..

See this post I made for white balance adjustments in Photoshop, should be similar inother photo programs as well. //www.dpchallenge.com/comment_browse.php?USER_ID=28423&HELPFUL=on

Ok, I'll try that. Yes, it's Photoshop 7.

Thanks.

post the photo if you can and ill see what i can do then explain how i did it. using the magnetic lasso to select the area is how i do it. you can then adjust the colors and curves of just the background.

Well, I love it for the D and L, so I don't want to give anything away. I may just play with cropping and delete it all together. I've worked on most people's suggestions and it's weird how it doesn't want to work like I want it too. Isn't that just like a white wall? THANKS! j

Thanks for all the tips folks. I ended up choosing a different photo, but this information is certainly going to help me in the future. Thanks again!! J
