I'm about 1/2 between Jax and St. Augustine. About an hour either way with traffic. Would love to shoot/show you around, etc.

Used to live there. Lots of great photo-ops in SA.

You can get some nice shots of the sunrise next to the Castillo de San Marcos watchtowers, if you get up early enough. Another interesting thing to see is when the commercial fishermen come in at the Conch House dock and clean the fish.

Have a good time.

@rox - planning on it. haven't been there since i went digital.

@cindy - maybe sunday 8/21? if not, maybe another place/time?

@aaron - maybe...my great-grandparents lived in hawthorne for years, and i know my mom would probably like some shots from around there (as for gainesville, she'd probably rather me be over in tallahassee, if ya catch my drift).

Sunday sounds great! Afternoons tend to be better than mornings at the zoo, because of crowd and the light - but they close at 6:00 or 7:00. Something around 2 or 3?

that would probably work. take the kids to the beach, have lunch at harry's, then head up to the zoo...this sounds good. dinner on the south side of the st johns to get the sunset and the reflections...

I have a friend that would like to shoot the zoo on sunday, so pass is full with Skip's clan. Still welcome any others in the area to join.

I'm off for the night, Skip, I'll check for details here in the morning, and am here all day tomorrow.

Skip and I just talked and are meeting at Jax Zoo at 3:00 today. Last call for anyone else who wants to join us. I can still fit one more person on my family pass.

Wish us luck in the heat. Hope to have some great shots to share later. :)

What a good time! It was about 100 degrees today so zoo was almost empty. We braved the weather with 4 kids, 2 adults and 4 cameras. Skiprow is a very nice guy and his children are adorable (Hi guys)! Here are a few of my shots from today (there were hundreds and I still haven't sorted all of them), though I'm betting Skip's are better...

damn it! How did I miss this thread!

I live in Jacksonville and would've loved to have met up with you. I was out of town when this thread was active.

The kids and I go to the zoo about once a month - Sorry I missed it.

Aweeeeeee I'm sorry you missed it too, Northrop! We had a ball! I live local too, yell if you wanna go shoot sometime. :)

will do.

Do we have many locals (Savanah to St. Augustine)? A GTG might be in order.

Cumberland Island, Ft. Clinch, The Alligator Farm, St. Augustine - they would all make good photo-op locations.

yes, it was hot as heck, but what a blast! great shots, cindi!

here are some of mine:

planning on shooting around st aug tomorrow afternoon (the fort and st george st), happy hour at harry's.

probably do the alligator farm weds am or pm, depending on the heat.

still want to do the jax waterfront at sunset one evening. anyone interested in getting together, or if you have any other ideas, suggestions, post here!!! there are too many opportunities here to let them go to waste...

thanks again, cindi, for being such a great tour guide--the kids & i had a ball!

Wow! Knew you'd have some amazing shots, Skip. Your bobcat is stunning! Are you still hearing about koalas? lol

Great Zoo shots. Wish I still lived there. I would have joined up with all of you. Enjoy the rest of your stay Skip.

Skip, let me know which evening you decide to shoot the waterfront. I would like to meet up with you if possible. Monday or Wednesday work best for me. Tuesday may be possible (son's afternoon soccer game), but it will be tight.

The views from the south bank are really nice.

how about weds pm? isn't there a brewpub or something like that where we could meet up? (i remember that shot of yours, sam, and would love to add something like that to my folio!) anytime after 5 is fine with me. cindi? others?

looks like it's the alligator farm weds am.

I may be able to show up on wednesday, but it would have to be earlier in the morning. work seems to always get in the way of shooting photos.
