Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has had experience with using an additional flash on an F707? Any recommendations for external flash units?

Thanks in advance.

I avoid using a flash as much as possible. I eventually got the Sony Strong Flash to photograph my In-laws 50th wedding anniversary. Even with that I used a reflector to soften the shadows.

I use the promaster 5750 DX flash and the sony module and have had good luck with it. you can always go over to The sony talk forum and do a search....lots of flash options for the 707

Thanks for all the info! Do any of you have samples with the additional flash units?

I agree, the built in flash is average at best (particularly red-eye reduction). Would like to see how much of an improvement I can get with a compatible flash.

Hey Thanks Jab119 for the helpful links!

your welcome dsidwell

No I dont have any samples, i mainly just tested it or the shots were bounce flash and you really cant tell a flash was used. Now that I have a second camera maybe its time to do flash photography with the 707.

now mind yo this flash is pretty big, its almost the same size as the 707 its self.. but it has a tilt and swivel head so you can point the flash anywhere you want.

Thanks Jab119 and Daysez.

Will look into those options you both suggested!

An alternative to the Promaster flash jab119 mentioned (which is very hard to get in Europe) is the Metz flash range. They have an SCA adapter for Sony digital cameras (SCA 3602) which is compatible with the DSC-F707, DSC-S75 and DSC-S85.

I've ordered this together with the Mecablitz 44MZ-2 flash unit. I've got the adapter but am still waiting for the flash to come in :-(

If you're interested, I'll let you know how I get on and post some samples when I get it (should be sometime in the next week).

Hello, I just bought the sony brand external flash hvl-f1000 at b&h photo online at this link for $99.00-

//www.bhphotovideo.com/bh1.sph/FrameWork.class?FNC=ProductActivator__Aproductlist_html___196925___SOHVLF1000___REG___CatID=2609___SID=F4BF1AF29F0

I paid $14.00 for two day dilivery and recieved my flash in two days. I have bought several things from b&h and am very pleased with there service.
I never really liked using a flash, i really like using natural light or an umbrella lighting set up. But a friend has a wedding comming up and i am shooting it.
I really like the results of this flash especially when i bounce it off of the ceiling, its head can rotate down 5 degrees or up 90 degrees.
What im trying to say is that i really am glad that i forked out the extra money for this flash and that i am really looking foward to learning how to use it properly. Kevin
