I have two pictures that I would like some critiques on. I didn't have an opportunity to set anything serious up, but I did take time, tinkered with some settings, took nearly 2 dozen shots and with some light editing and cropping have ended up with these.

I am pleased with the results, but I want to know if there is something I could/should have done to shoot these better.

I think they are good b&w photos. My main suggestion is to try and keep hands out of the shot whenever possible. Obviously, a baby that age needs to either be held up or propped up, but fingers do tend to distract away from the face. A busy background will do that as well, as opposed to something solid/neutral. I think, too, that the first picture would benefit from a closer crop. Beautiful baby, by the way! : )

what a cute face! If baby can't be propped up I would lay baby down and then fingers usually aren't in the mouth : )

Thanks for the critiques.

I will see if I can get some similar shots this coming weekend. There will be more space, so it might be possible to get some shots with the baby propped up on something or laying on her back.
