Sorry guys, I'm feeling chatty today. I've been lurking on the forums for months and for some reason lately the floodgates have opened.
I just finished going through this week's photos for the 2nd time and I just want to say "Yay!" After having some trouble with a lot of the "Something new" submissions, I think there are just a lot of marvelous shots this week. Some of them I thought of doing, others I could never have dreamed up, and, of course, some cliches. But all-in-all I'm really having fun looking through them.
Of course, I'm going to have to kill whoever used Sanford brand pencils in their photo b/c now I've got the freakin' theme song to "Sanford & Son" stuck in my head. *siiiigh*

I have completed voting on 134 photos out of the 184 submissions... just had to take a break for a minute!
I am astounded by the sense of humor and use of imagination! wow, people! great job! there are a number of really excellent works this time 'round, and .. well, I just can't stop laughing and holding my head in amazement.
whew.
fun for sure. who said it would be boring and monotonous to vote on so many pencil submissions? I, for one, am *not* bored! :-)

I haven't been bored with this one either... I think the choice of subject made this one quite interesting :) There are some great shots this week :)

Sometimes the most creative results occur under the tightest constraints.
The entries this week are in general probably better than in the
'free study' challenge. Constraints ain't always bad.

Oh my gosh Rob, that was the funniest entry in the forums I have seen in a while.
But now of course I have the S&S songs stuck in MY head too!
After looking through the entries, I feel surrounded by some of the most creative and clever photographers. Good work everyone! Can't wait to see which one belongs with which photographer! :)

I'll admit, at first I wasn't all that thrilled about the idea - but I totally underestimated the creativity and talent here - so sorry.

| i agree that i thought what a strange challenge, but i'm astounded to what creativity with pencils can produce. simply amazing. good luck everyone. |

I think this challenge has produced the best results from top to bottom of the 5 months I have been here.
I agree that sometimes the tightest constraints produce the greatest creativity. |

Pencil -- My favorite so far.....I love looking, I love voting and I love commenting on pencils!!!

| I have only been voting now for about 5 weeks. This has been by and far the most fun challenge I have had yet. I also have really busted out laughing at a few of the photo that I was voting on. This prompted some of my coworkers to check out what I was laughing at. I think I got a few people hooked now on this site. I like this type of challenge becuase it is more focused. The new challenge was really hard. I voted on all of the photos, that was a big job, but it was really fun this week |

Thanks a lot karen. though i remember the show, i had forgotten how the song went. until i *innocently* clicked on your link, unaware of what it would do to me. now i am going to bed, and that crazy thing is playing. yet another level of the addiction of dpc.

funny thing is, I keep forgetting how it goes! all I can hear now is the theme from "barney miller".
Maybe it's part of the dpchallenge syndrome leaking through the computer and keyboard - sort-a like osmosis!
