The "Landmark" challenge lived up to it`s name for me as it marked one year exactly since I stumbled upon the site and entered my first submission.

In that time I`ve managed to learn some very important lessons on the basics of Digital photography..thanks to the many excellent photographers on the site.

I`ve also spent a small fortune upgrading to the 20D less than a year after buying the Fuji S602z and would never have contemplated that if I hadn`t caught the "DPC bug"...my wife is currently searching for the "antidote" before I bankrupt us all :)

Best of all,it`s brought me in contact with some very nice people whom I consider as friends (if that`s not being too presumptious)and look forward to extending that along with my membership in January.

Now, if only my "Landmark" submission was doing well..everything in the garden would be rosy....Oh the joys of DPC :)

Thanks to all
Gordon

My God, you have some seriously good photos on your website Kylie, don't hide them away there, share them with DPC!

What a year, Gordon. I'd be interested to know how (or whether you feel) your photography has changed over the year.

Only a year? Seems like it has been longer. Your presence has been a positive for the rest of us. Many happy returns!

Thank you very much to everyone for the kind comments (don`t quite know if I deserve them..but it just reinforces what I said about the friendly ambience that predominates on this site,(despite the rather heated threads that have been circulating recently.)

Kylie...definitely on the list.

Ed..My photography is constantly changing as I try new subject matter and techniques...not very much makes it on to DPC..but I tend to pick up inspiration from people like yourself and many of the other top photographers and try to blend some of what I like into my images.

Most of my learning has been in the field of postprocessing which, before joining up here, was something I thought "Royal Mail" dealt with!!
I still don`t work with layers or Raw files..not because I can`t (I have tinkered with it)..but because I`m too lazy. However, I intend to make it my New Year Resolution to start taking the whole business more seriously as I aim towards reaching the standard that you guys can achieve.
