How 'bout Google's Key Hole service...? Their service might be able to take advantage of this technology: http://www.keyhole.com/
Of course, they're using satellites. |
The software used for the TNO TPD pic is Zoomify (which, apparently, has a free version). Among their links of featured sites using their software is Space Imaging, who currently has a pretty cool zoomable picture of Falluja from satelite, plus some 9/11 before and after shots. |

OMG, top dead center is the clock. Great spotting. It took over an hour to take the 600 images. |
That's just crazy! Thanks for sharing this!

Wow...very cool...pictures from my own back yard.
I see where their going with this one, that's black's beach down over the side. I have accidently come home with some clothing optional pictures when shooting the hang gliders there (It don't take much of a lens either).
Edit: grammar

If you read the notes on the photo, they address some of the phantoms from the stitching. |

Yah, now imagine them using Canon's 1200mm f/5.6L Super Teelephoto lens with a Canon 1Ds Mark II 16.7 MP camera and taking 1000 photos and stitching it up...17GP photo...:)
