There are 111 critiques left to do this week, just a friendly reminder to try to remember to do some this week.

How's everyone doing with the Critiques? Do you feel you are learning? Do you feel your input has been valuable to the photographer? Do you feel the critiques you are getting are valuable?

Well, I'm not doing many critiques, but I enjoy them very much. So far I learned a lot doing them.

I don't know if my input is valuable to the photographer. Some don't mark them as helpful, but I guess everybody has a different opinion on when to tick these checkboxes. However, I got some responses by mail and all were very thankful.

The critiques I get are very helpful. Some could be a bit more criticising but it's also interesting to read the explanations why somebody likes the photo.

This is my busy season at work, so all my critiques have to wait for the weekend. I refuse to critique or vote on photos from my work computer because of the monitor. I've certainly learned how to look at an image to find out why I like/dislike it... Which has helped me when I'm looking through the viewfinder.

That surprises me that people aren't marking your critiques as helpful, are you sending the photographer a message to let them know that you critiqued their photo? Alot of people don't check their shots after the challenge is over.

Are we supposed to send them a message? I never have sent one, or received on either, but it sure sound like a good idea! I know that on my first critique I received on a photo I didn't even realize it was there for a couple of weeks, and by then it was too late to be able to discuss it with the critiquer.

Yes I feel I am learning a lot! I have also had some very helpful and pleasant responses from some of the photographers! Thanks all!

I think it is helpfull to send a message when you critique a shot after the challenge is over because, like you, many people don't even know that someone has left a critique. I wish that there was a way to let us know when there are new critiques on our shots.

Struggling. I am not very motivated at this time. Sometimes I vote on a challenge and see a massive amount of pictures I don't want to critique because they are so bad that I don't feel the person who entered it takes photography seriously. I am not a walking phototech book, but perhaps I wan't to say too much.

Also I don't have so much time lately, it conflicts with the normal commenting (hardly do that anymore), I feel I have less time and concentration for the new challenges because I am still busy with the old one. That is what bothers me the most and makes me want to quit CC. I wan't to look forward but am looking too much backwards. It is one of the reasons why I didn't participate in Yellow.
I don't take enough time to review my own normal shots (that I need to prepare for third parties as well). And it is going to get worse in the spring when I am going to do a lot more personal photography and other hobbies.

Do you feel you are learning?
Sometimes, but not so much anymore. Now I would much rather concentrate on the new challenge, try things out and learn that way. The looking back part is blocking some of my own development in- and outside dpc. At this moment I am learning the most of reading the National Geographic Field Guides "People & Portraits" and "Landscapes". I read those when I brush my teeth and in bed until I fall asleep.

Do you feel your input has been valuable to the photographer?
I think so.

Do you feel the critiques you are getting are valuable?
I think almost all off them were. I don't ask a critique for every image.

I feel pretty much the same as Azrifel, especially when I think that not all of the critiques being done are neccessarily wanted. I say this because of the check box for critiques is defaulting to being checked. I think it should be unchecked and if the person wants a critique then he or she can check it.

The check box is not defaulting to YES anymore... that was fixed...

I have decided to stop doing CC-critiques for at least a couple of weeks. The reason is already mentioned in my previous reaction.
I cannot find any motivation to do it any longer.
