Have just entered the B is for .... challenge

The image was shot on the 2nd of April and the challenge information advises the challenge started at this time.
When I have the 2nd of April in the date taken area (which came up automatically from the metadata I gather) I get a box saying it is shot out of the date time.

So, I have put the 3rd for the entry which has allowed it to enter the comp.

Does something need a bit of a tweak in the system?

There also seems to be a problem if you try to enter during the last few hours of the submission period -- last night I also had to change the date on my Infinite II entry to April 9 instead of the 10th. There's an earlier thread on this somewhere ...

As long as your original has a valid date I wouldn't worry about it.

April 2nd in Australia might be before the challenge actually started on April 2nd EDT.

Different problem. Is the site not resizing images anymore? I can load my oversized pictures into my workshop but not into a challenge. Please advise.

Have you tried using the "Copy from Workshop" option on the challenge entry page? Otherwise ... I always prefer to resize the image myself so I know how it looks before I upload, it and so it's smaller/faster.

Yes, that's what I usually do. Anything over 700 gets an error from either the workshop or from direct file upload. I have generally been letting the site resize into the challenge for a long time now but it doesn't seem to be working today.

I just submitted a 4,000 pixel, 2.8 MB test entry in Baby Animals, and the site was happy tp accept it and resize it. I'm not sure what's happening, but it doesn't seem to be across the boards here :-(

And again... yesterday to the Kodachrome Challenge and now to the Symmetry Challenge.... from my workshop or from file upload, the site is not resizing. Both times the message said Your image exceeds 700kb. Please review or let us know this can't be done anymore. Thank you.

It's erratic at best... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I won't get annoyed until you tell me what's wrong.

My asymmetry just worked... copied a 1.2mb picture from my workshop to the challenge. But my symmetric image at 1.5mb doesn't work. Same camera, different lenses. Could it have to do with the pixel length per side? I always pick 1200 height for viewing pleasure but the width is different. I am perplexed. Also not a techie so I could be doing something wrong. I just need to know what it is.

You need to have 1200 for the LONGEST dimension, whether it is vertical or horizontal.

Good to know. Helpful information. Thanks.

But what if it's square? 1200 on each side doesn't seem to work.

I use this resizer all the time. In my experience, I don't this your answer is consistently the case because I almost always save a landscape image at 1200 pixel height which means the other dimension is wider. And most of the time it works. I have noticed that if the image is less than 1mg I sometimes get the message, I go back and make the file larger and then it works.

I'm sorry to keep asking but if there's a definitive answer to what the resize will accept and what it won't, I'd like to know what that is. If there is no rhyme or reason I'd be surprised, but I'd accept that explanation as well. At least then I would know I need to always leave time for muddling around.

Thanks.

I have no idea what is causing this. As far as I know, neither does Langdon. This has been an on-again-off-again issue for certain people for quite a while now. Sorry :-(

When I load a entry for Holes or Bags challenge it is ok, but if I want to update it with info or different name it says it is taken outside of entry time. Date taken today I'm confessed am I to late to enter?

No, you are not too late. This is a glitch. Just change the date . . . IOW upload and then when you go to change the title, change the date in the DPC box to yesterday's date.

EVERY team captain needs to tell their team members this AND repeat it again next Sunday (when it will happen to all who are entering or changing an entry for the Blue contest.
