Yep, hats off for sure to those brave souls who LOVE to shoot weddings and are able to build an entire life and career around doing nothing but. They obviously have the gregarious natures to cope with the stress, they can have the work!!!

This is the thing about shooting weddings, Expectation.
I will ONLY shoot a wedding if...

A. I like the look of B&G and the venue
B. They like my style of Photography and that's why they chose me, otherwise it can get messy.
C. There is a clear agreement beforehand of anything 'special' they want.
D. Agree a package (with prints, on a disc, time spent at wedding, time spent editing, food included, blah blah blah.

I once went to meet the happy couple after a long phone convo of them saying they love my work and want me to shoot their wedding, however they had no idea (at the time) I was only shooting B&W (Leica M9M) they were shocked but must of forgotten our conversation through excitement. Anyway, long story short, make sure you outline YOUR proposal and that they understand it.

I still shot their wedding as the Wife was clued up about my work & wanted B&W, the husband said it was ridiculous to shoot only in B&W and was quite moody about it until I took round the edited shots (200+) and suggested they chose 24-40 photos for their wedding album because nobody wants to sit through hours of wedding pics really. Husband was so pleased he shed a tear.

Weddings are bloody hard work, mentally & physically and can through up all kinds of problems (you promised us this you said it included that, we thought it was cheaper etc etc).

This is why I do maybe 2 a year now as a special favour and nothing under £1000 basic package.

Though this is a pretty standard business issue, short term selective memory of the original agreement, it's much more harrowing, frustrating, and demoralizing when it's all about the once-in-a-lifetime, no do-over situation of a wedding.
