I'm not participating like I used to, but it has less to do with the site, its politics or people, and more to do with me shooting film almost exclusively now. I still poke my head in occasionally, and even find something to put in a challenge now and then (I have something in the July Free Study).

Hi!

My participation rate has been low, and I don’t vote on as many of the challenges as I should, but I log in most every night. I don’t plan on giving up on this place, and hope that I will have more time to spend here after I retire in October.

This list is not completed yet I think
I was away over the weekend and came back to find this thread and Ken wanting to burn me, tststs...

I see myself as a loyal dpc member, registerd since 2008 and still fairly active at voting and submitting

List certainly not complete. Count me as a loyal DPCer too. Just found this thread this morning -- due in great part to currently spending a great deal of time out there in the "real" (non-virtual-non-online) world. Sometimes we have to manage quite a few aspects of life simultaneously. Hoping to resume increased challenge participation once some of these other matters settle down.

“New beginnings and new shoots Spring again from hidden roots Pull or stab or cut or burn, Love must ever yet return.”
— Robert Graves

My record stands for itself. Still engaged fully here, but troubled by the words and actions of some.

Been here for 14 years so I guess you can add me. Only vote these days. I lost my mojo and it hasn't come back. Visit a couple of times a week.

Registered in November 2004 became a member in Feb. 2005...still here. It has taken me almost 14 years to crack the top 10. That's ok, I don't enter often..only challenges that appeal to me. I also shoot for me and try not to get irritated by the scores. I vote in almost every challenge. I stick around because there is always something new to learn, see or try out. It is like a big virtual family.

Sort of watched from the sidelines for a few months first, then joined Dec of 2009. DPC has been a curse and a blessing! But have made many good friends here and intend on staying as long as y'all are here. Would be interested in another team event. Those and juried art challenges are the most fun for me.

I just popped on because I have some extra time in the next couple weeks and thought I really need to do some photography. I've been around off and on for the past 7 years. Its always amazing to me that I can come back after being gone for so long and still recognize most of the names posting here. I've made some great friends here and learned loads about photography from all of you. I don't think you every really can quit DPC, its like a drug you think you have tossed the habit only to find yourself posting on the forums again ;)

Post retracted. Hard to do silly on a computer. :)

Throw yourself into this place and it will be like your best friend/husband/significant other, etc. It will annoy you. It will charm you. It will get under your skin. And you'll love it forever, even with all its faults.

I'm definitely not a fan or a loyal DPCer.

This place drives me up the wall.

I'm never good enough.

I see the incredible lighting that certain people can do, the art that others do, the creativity of others, the blah blah blah blah blah, so on and so forth, and it makes me feel overwhelmed.

I see the Judis, tangueras, irenes, ubiques, coleys, etc., and I want to be them.

I see the people who can see the beauty in the funky and bizarre, and I want to learn to see it.

I'm stuck on a site that constantly makes me realize how much I have yet to learn. I'm stuck on a site that makes me photograph things that I never would have photographed. I'm stuck on a site that makes me try things that I've never tried before. That makes me see things in a way that never occurred to me. That pushes me to try to be better.

I'm not a fan. I'm an addict. And luckily that can't be cured. Because no matter how hard I try, there will always be people here to show me there's more to see, do, accomplish, try, fail, try succeed, try fail and try again.

Geez, Wendy, don't hold back, now! LOL!!!

ETA: And all this whining from someone with three 8+ scores on her profile page.

Shut the Hell up, Wendy!

I'm still trying to get all 7+ scores on my page after 11 years!

Aww, geesh Jeb, it was supposed to be silly, not whining!

Comment retracted and changed to be more clear.

I think he may be trying to be a bit "silly" too ... at least I was able to read both posts that way.

Remember, this is the "positive" thread ... :-)

I just thought it was a funny post since it echoes a lot of the same feelings I have here.

Except that I add YOU to that list of people you would love to emulate.

I see the Judis, tangueras, irenes, ubiques, coleys, vawendys, etc., and I want to be them.

Like this one...

This picture, the story behind it, the way it fit the challenge.

It's probably one of my all time favorite DPC shots and it warms my heart and makes me smile every time I look at it and/or remember it.

This is why I love DPC.....because of images and their backstory like this.

Thank you Wendy......Just for being you.

I'm by no means a loyal DPCer, I just came back after a 9-year absence to have a peek at what's going on.
I must say this site has not changed a bit, as if time stood still.
It still looks and feels like a site from the beginning of the century.
Voting and commenting is still a mouse-only PITA, the general look & feel is outdated IMO.

With all due respects Tom, this thread was intended for those who support DPC. Your comment is well taken, but why don't you start another thread "How to improve DPC". That would be a positive criticism rant!

I pledge allegiance to the ribbons of dpchallenge,
and to the website for which they stand, one URL under hypertext transfer protocol,
