Seeing that a nude recently won try Art challenge, yet nudity is generally punished in challenges, let's have some fun with this. Extended editing.

This thread has a naked response.

I'm not sure what the challenge would be, nude or something else? It could be a free study or it could be a dichotomous challenge, a nude or
something that represents prudishness.

I'm genuinely not sure what it is you are suggesting.

how bizarre

I don't get it either....

Wait...is a nude prude still a prude? or just self-deluded?

I feel that there is a severe dichotomy on DPC when it comes to the human female form. Too many people seem to equate nudity with pornography, which is itself nudity but taken to extremes.

I mention Paul's recent blue ribbon because it appears that nudity is acceptable in the context of art...yet when my recent Animal entry, which had visible breasts (and OMG a visible NIPPLE!!!!!!) the voters clearly disapproved. At least the last 7-8 did. Yet, once again, Paul has ribboned with lovely nudes whose breasts were quite visible.

So....DPCers...why are you so divided? Why do you ribbon one nude yet totally trash another?

So I thought it would be fun to have a challenge featuring either a nude, or a prude, or who knows maybe even both. Consider it a throwing down of the gauntlet.

Why do we give a ribbon to one sunset and not another? One flower and not another? Why are you assuming your shot did worse BECAUSE it's a nude and Paul's well DESPITE being a nude? I'm curious about this...

good luck.

Because I'm a teeny bit OCD and tracked every vote and corresponding score all during that painful week of voting, Bear. Seems VERY strange that it went from a fairly comfortable 6.7-6.8 and then magically plummeted during the last day of voting, all the way up til the very last minute of voting. That's why.

And let's face it, voters love the familiar, the safe, the predictable...and oh yes the recognizable. We've discussed this before.

I thought Susan was talking about the handful of voters that ALWAYS vote nudes very low no matter how tasteful and elegant.
This isn't the first time this was discussed.

And interestingly Alex's front-paging seal has much more nipple going on than either of our images Susan!

All prudes vote on the last day?

They sure did on my image, en masse. Very strange and completely *coincidental*, I know.

Yeah but they're guy nipples. Any hint of nipples on a woman though and holy hell duck as the barn doors blow off. Yet you do a lot of nudes, but ribbon consistently with them. As did Samantha_T, she bared a lot of flesh when she was active here.

But when I shoot nudes, which is once in a blue moon, I get trashed. Explain that to me.

You came in 8th with a 6.3.

Wait...how is that 'getting trashed' exactly? And scores typically drop towards the end of voting anyway, don't they?

Uhm actually no, traditionally they go up...but obviously I buck the trend, as usual..except this one time in 600+entries....yeah sure...something very suspicious going on.

And up til that last day I had a rock-solid 6.74 as my lowest score, but mysteriously last 6-8 votes like I said, hit the skids. Yes, I definitely feel that I was robbed of a ribbon.

Gosh, Susan, all I can say is lucky you that your scores go up during the last hours of voting. It's certainly not been my experience. Pretty nearly every challenge I enter (and those are very few and far between these days) the score drops during the last 12 hrs of voting
