Pat on the back for you!
I have only made it to just under 1700 comments after 14 years as a paid member on DPC.
It would have been loads more, but I got tired of the abuse. It seems that too many people love praise ("BEST photo ever"...... "You are the most amazing photographer I have ever seen in my life"), but don't like any type of criticism.
So instead of being abused, I severely reduced my commenting.
For so many years now, I have hoped that Langdon might include checkboxes to tell us who wants to have:
1) NO comments at all - I love what I produce, and I don't need anybody else to prop me up (or down).
2) Only positive comments - I just want to hear what is wonderful about my work, nothing else.
3) Moderated comments (i.e. don't be honest...... fake it so you don't hurt me too much)
4) Any and ALL comments..... I can take it...... I want the truth, please be real with me!! If you hate it, please tell me your opinion of how I could have done better - I don't even have to agree with you, but your opinion is still useful to me, anyway.
After all these years, we are still groping in the dark, and I have learned to hold back the truth (if I have any sort or criticism to offer) .... because too often when I go there, I end up bleeding - note to GeneralE: Yes, I know I could report those, but that is NOT the point.... I would like a solution that removes that need for reporting abuse.
Langdon...... once again... PLEASE allow us to state what sort of feedback we welcome!!!! |
