We've been talking about going to see the northern lights for years, and finally have decided to do it. We're going to those glass igloos in February. So, aside from taking as much warm clothing as possible.... I have a couple of questions.

I've heard that gear can lock up below certain temps. Is this true, and/or what sort of precautions or special stuff do I need to bring.

Although I could look it up, I know there are several DPCers who take great aurora shots, and maybe you have some useful insight for me. Including settings, etc.

Finally, we're only staying a few days and it's way out there, so, anything else in that general neck of the woods that we should go check out?

Thanks!

Joanna, I'm away at the moment so just on my phone. Having lived in Finland for 12 yrs I've got quite a lot of cold weather tips. Will pm you when back @ my computer. Make sure you have plenty of batteries!

Oh an Lapand is a big place, where are you going, Finland, Sweden or Norway? Makes a bit of difference if trying to guide on things to see/do
