Hello,

found a Nikkor 70-200 vr for 800€. Basically the only one in my town (living in a small town) and thought about buying it, although saw that it has a dent (seen in the picture) on front filter ring. My question is: will it have an impact on the performance of the lense? The seller is saying that the lense works perfectly, he only used it a couple of times over a year (he bought it with a dent already from another photographer) and he's selling it because he's moving over to canon..

P.S. I can test it for a day. What tests should I do?
P.P.S my first day on this forum and sorry in advance for my english (not my native language)

Thank you in advance for the help
Paul

I'd definitely test it. Test the auto focus, manual focus, zoom in and out, test sharpness on nearest and farthest extremes

^^ What she said. If it checks out, then don't worry about the dent. Now, if the dent prevents mounting a filter and that's important to you, it may be possible to remove the dent, depending on how deep and sharp it is.
