Currently on vacation and did not get to enter this one. I tried , but with only iPad to work with, could not get it to load correctly (at the last minute). First pass through and it looks like a great group of images. Good luck everyone.

those last two voters REALLY didn't like my image.
They know who they are.
They know what they can do - keep on voting however they damn well please because that's how life happens. ;-)

Wow, a whole lot of hating going on in the last hour. Vote total almost doubled with the average vote a full point lower than it was before. It's almost like a hoard of locusts swept through and killed my crop.

do you get mad at the sun for shining? or the rain for falling from the sky?
so to should you treat the trolls for they are an ever-present force of interneture (the nature of the internet). accept that they will equally lower everything, accept that your image is not defined by them, and accept that if they're truly horrendous beasts, their votes will be scrubbed in the final tally.

I've had discussions before where I was told it was my imagination that particularly low votes came in bunches and that it's because I was less inclined to notice when high votes come in bunches. The word poppycock comes to mind.

Oh, I know they come. I just find they come with more of a vengeance during open challenges, and I have to wonder if some high school photography class somewhere just decided to unload on us all before heading off for the weekend.

"Manet? What's a manet? It rhymes with Janet, right?!"

And yes, I know, we all got the same brush, so it'll all wash out. ;)

I'm just trying to change my own attitude on here about low votes hitting me.
I hope it works, because right now I've dropped significantly due to 2's and 3's and I want to find those particular people, strap them to a chair (clockwork orange style) with a looped video of YANAP-esque images. i'll show them 2's and 3's...

though, to be fair, my only true care on this challenge is "do I get any insightful comments or praise from the PH crowd before this is over". if I do, challenge successful. they, to me, seem to be the true judges in a challenge such as this - the people to whom art really means something, who are not just looking for pretty landscapes and technicals on lighting - but to whom the image evokes a feeling, and who are looking for a modern inspiration of a notable painter.

And I'm not ranting as much as I'm commenting on 10 votes in the span of just over an hour after 10 votes in 12 hours.

First 10 votes average 6.5

Next 10 votes average 5.3

I'm not saying that my image should be a 6.5 more than a 6 or even a 5.3 (it ain't that), I'm just commenting on the patterns I see more than once in a while.

Started out with a happy score at 10 votes, dropped .6 in the last 13 votes. The late night voters are still the happiest. We need more drunk, late night party goers on this site. :)
