I have a Dane-Elec 16 GB compact flash card that has stopped working. I can't format it in camera or on my computer. If one of you guru's could guide me on how to fix this, I would appreciate it.
Here is a screenshot of the info on my card.

THANK YOU

Don't know the card sorry but sure you didn't knock the write protect tab?

Well, the first question is whether there is any data on there that you would desire to save? If the answer is "no" then it would seem that it needs to be re-initialized, since the volume type is reported as unknown. I can't guide you as to how to do that on a MAC, however...

Somewhere (usually on a side) there is a small tab, just try pushing it to the opposite direction. If that doesn't work then maybe google for help on what Kirbic suggests ;)

On the vast majority of CF cards, there is no write protect tab. That's certainly not the issue, since the volume isn't even recognized. If it were a write-protect issue, you'd be able to see it as a drive, and copy from it, just not write to it (including format it).

No tab on it and when I try to initialize, it fails. I sure wish Dane-Elec had better customer service. I had a San Disk CF card fail a while back and not only did they replace my card after 7 years of use but they paid for return shipping. I was so impressed

I would just scrap it if need be, these little fellas are cheap as chips these days and not worth the effort.
I will send one in yor xmas stocking if you are feeling the pinch:)

That was kind of you to offer Tiny but it's all good. I haven't bought one in a while so I didn't realize they were so cheap. It's seems like I paid around $70 for it.
