Take a picture where a car is the main subject in your picture.
Not any other kind of vehicle.
I don't see any Car challenge before. (there was "on the road", "transportation", "vehicles", "planes trains and automobiles", old cars,... )

This topic was bound to come up as a challenge suggestion since most people own them and they are a pervasive part of modern life. However, to me they clutter the landscape/urbanscape with uglyness and very often prevent the photographer from getting a good clean shot of a desired photographic location subject.

Funny thing... I feel the same way about people who clutter up the view to a stunning vista.

Must be the same people who take up two parking spots with their vehicles at the mall.

I don't think they are bad tips. They are useful for beginners.

What is an "automobile"?

I ask because there are lots of cool looking pickup trucks, SUV's, and even a van or two that would be interesting. Then there are the "crossover" vehicles that are somewhere between a car and a SUV.

I guess there's nobody around this weekend. :-(

An automobile, in this challenge, is apparently a "car". Not a truck or a van, etc.

I'm not SC though... :D

Am guessing it will be the voters not SC that decide if an automobile is a 'car'. That said by adding the word automobile into the challenge means a truck/van/etc is permissible.

noun
1.
a passenger vehicle designed for operation on ordinary roads and typically having four wheels and a gasoline or diesel internal-combustion engine.

Hmmm.... Interesting.

So... what's all this about, then?

"Take a picture where a car/automobile is the main subject in your picture: not any other kind of vehicle"

Yup, a(nother) challenge made confusing by the description. Be safe, shoot a car ;)

It's not that confusing...no trains, no planes, no motorcycles, no horse carriages, etc., just automobiles, which include cars and light trucks.

a railroad car, a car in a hot air balloon, a car as a carriage, a car in a lift, etc...
With other vehicle I meant ; A vehicle (from Latin: vehiculum) is a mobile machine that transports people or cargo. Most often, vehicles are manufactured, such as wagons, bicycles, motor vehicles (motorcycles, trucks, buses), railed vehicles (trains, trams), watercraft (ships, boats), aircraft and spacecraft.
Are not allowed.

SUV, pick-up truck, van, taxi, police car, sportscar, rally car, Hummer type, etc... are all OK.

I don't have a dog in this fight... I've just been known to misinterpret challenge descriptions... so I err on the side of caution when possible. LOL!
