I've been sitting on this for over a week and have been bursting to tell everyone, but decided to wait until it was "official". This morning I received that "official" email, so I just had to share.
In late July, I heard about the Urban Photographer of the Year competition. The theme was "Cities at Work". The deadline was the 1st week in August. We could enter up to 24 images, each representing one hour of the day in a "city at work". There would be a global winner, three "region" winners (Americas, Europe, Asia/Africa), and one winner for each hour of the day. I decided to enter, and spent 4 weeks taking photos all over L.A.
Last week, by some weird, roundabout coincidences involving one of the buildings I shot in, I saw an email requesting some information about the image I shot in that building. It had been selected as the Americas Region winner.
Yes. I won the Americas Region!!!
They had over 10,000 entries! I wish I could link you to the image but it hasn't been posted yet. But as soon as it is, I will. In the meantime, here's the contest site.
I solicited the input from several people, for help in choosing my entries. I especially wanted to thank  dtremain for all the time he spent analyzing, comparing, commenting, and encouraging me. Amazingly, he selected the winning image.

WOWOWOWOW!!! (as someone I "know" might say). This is wonderful news, Johanna. And I was almost as pleased to learn of David's part in it as I was to learn of the win. I was on a team with him once and I have to say it was a pleasure. He was never too busy to take a look and offer comments and encourage. Bet he feels as if he won, too :) Big congratulations.
Any chance you are the global winner, too? |
