Hello! I have this super awesome kayaking photo that we took with an underwater camera and water spots got on it. Most of the water spots I can deal with except for the one that is on my face. I have tried using the healing brush and the burn tool in APhotoshop CS5 but it did not look normal at all. (I could have done it wrong). Has anyone fixed something like this and could offer me some advice? Thank you, Kelly

That is a real tough one, as most of the features have been blurred beyond recognition. Although some really careful retouching might be able to approximate a "fix", I might actually suggest shooting just your face in as close to that expression as possible, and then carefully blend it in. Hopefully others can provide additional options.

I took a stab at doing a halfway fix just with contrast and structure adjustments, and that approach was not successful, Facial reconstruction is required here. I hear the plastic surgeons in Mexico are very competent and much less expensive :-)

Can't recall the exact sequence, but first I duplicated the face. Then I fiddled with brightness and/or levels on that layer. Did some cloning (set to Darken). Ran it through Topaz denoise and then detail. Fiddled more with cloning/darkening and levels. I think that's it.
