It's a beautifully sunny spring day and I had my point and shoot in my pocket and powered up for my five block walk from my bus to my office. I saw a starling fly by in the distance, but tree and ground based, I didn't see so much as a single city pigeon. How do you walk five blocks in Baltimore City and not even see a single bird? Oh, that's right, it's Big Month III. Of course, I'm not going to see any birds when I want to.

Not sure whats more frustrating. I went out to a lake near my house at sun up before work and heard many many birds in full springtime mode. Not one of them came near enough to get a capture even with my 300mm range....

Well today we are in the 2nd day of a blizzard!!! Already 30cm of snow down since yesterday, 20 more to come. I won't be getting any bird pics for a few days yet. If there are any birds left, that is. They're probably all buried under the snow.

Ummm -- I'm on hold with the DMV, so I looked outside to see what birds I could find.

All I see is a squirrel -- does that count?

The darn gorilla glue isn't working, and I have bites all over my hands now! (he doesn't seem to want wings...)

A cold blustery day in Northern Illinois. Yesterday I had tons of birds on the pond behind my house. This morning a pair of hoodies. ONE...
A test to see how posting the image is going to work.

edit ....Hmmmm....

I have to come up with a new workflow: how to parse 500 half-shakey shots with my daughter and still keep it fun, and keep doing it... :)

They all came at once this morning -- I have Junkos and cardinals a female and male bluebird, house finch, and chickadees -- they'll have to get their portraits later -- I have to go!

have not done this SC before -- so do we make separate posts for any/all photos... vs. editing an initial post to add birds?

Showoff!

: - )

There's a Barred owl that lives somewhere in my neighborhood. It drives my dog crazy. I may have to go owl hunting.

I had the time and opportunity to make a long walk today. Captured many birds (17 distinct I guess), but it will take some time to sort out the photos and to identify all the birds. But here's my first.

I'd just like to say that I am very jealous of all those that have already gotten so many shots! I've been working all day and happened to see a warbler outside the office window and realized that I don't have my camera.. I attempted an iPhone picture, but it didn't work very well..

Sigh... tomorrow is another day!

So far, all these shots are great!
