That's my high score so far. This has been spreading through the office like some sort of addictive virus.

Yeah, these posts should be banned. ...or at least hidden in Rant. :P

21844. Addicting doesn't even begin to describe it. Until I hit 2048, you couldn't hold a conversation with me.

5348 is my best so far.

A new addiction is born ;-(
I wish I never had seen this on DPC. Wait, that's another thread, isn't it?

I assume there is some very systematic way of going about this that will eventually get you to a 2048 tile. Is that how you "solved" it?

I get higher scores when I limit my moves to only 3 directions (eg, up, left, right, but never down) Anyone have any thoughts on this, or any other strategy?

I've been told that it helps to keep the big numbers in one corner.

... In my experience these are related strategies. I find it easier to keep the biggest numbers in one corner if you limit moves to three directions

I found the app for my iPhone. Maybe now I have something to make me stop playing Candy Crush.

8532. Pure evil. I had one 512 tile in the middle and a bunch of 128s and 256s around it. And a wrong move.

I just got one 1024 tile. I knew I'd made a suboptimal move a while before that but for now I'll enjoy that and my 12,116 score. Loving it!

ETA: So great to be (semi) retired!!

Are you still using the 3-direction strategy? Seems to work best. It's funny when, after playing for a while, you make a move in the fourth direction. Very disorienting!
